Hammerface Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Hi there - I'm brand new here and looking for some advice if possible. My my cousin has been a long time Star Wars collector and literally has an entire bedroom filled with Lego sets and figurines lnib and he has recently fallen into a spot where he really needs to sell some stuff. One set he has is worth about $10k Canadian or more and I'm wondering what the best way would be to go about selling this stuff. I said I'd try help him out but it's not my forte so I don't know where to start. He has some original figurines in packages from the original Star Wars movie it's insane. He's probably got $250,000+ invested in his collection!! and being in Canada maybe the market is limited. Not sure if he'd be better off to try sell the lot to a store or what he should do. And I'm busy too with kids/work/life etc so I don't have time to list it all separately on fleabay so maybe some of the experts here have some suggestions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! Al Quote
VaderFan2187 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Not an expert, but maybe he could try selling on eBay with an online auction? Quote
Irish437 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 If the collection is as large and valuable as you say it is he'd be better off selling the entire lot to someone instead of trying to sell it piece by piece. That's a lot of work. Or sell the top 10 most valuable items by themselves and then sell the lot to someone else. Quote
Hammerface Posted December 2, 2016 Author Posted December 2, 2016 Thanks guys! Yeah selling it it piece by piece is a very daunting task!!! selling it as a lot he would lose but be way less time and energy. Some of his older pieces/figurines are like $800 and I don't know enough about it. Maybe put the lot up on eBay but categorizing it all would be a horrendous task. Thanks for the input though I really appreciate it!!! Especially being a total newb here. ???? Quote
ecmo47 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 You really have two choices. Either sell it as one big bundle for a low price to get rid of it quick or make more money selling pieces/sets individually over a long period of time. Getting a quick sale of all for a high price has the same odds as hitting the lottery. I'd at least separate out all the Lego from other items. You can research sets prices on Bricklink. Here is a listing for one of the most coveted and sought-after Lego sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=10179-1&ColorID=0 Quote

If the single items and the lots are posted at the same time, parties interested in the high-end stuff are more likely to pick up the lots as well (for the right price).
