andreas9381 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Hello everyone, I did a project with the ldd program and wanted to know how I can put a white background or change background when I take pictures of my project on the site Quote
fred67 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Hi, If you're wondering why you haven't already had a million replies, it's because you posted to the wrong spot - you posted in forum information and help. There is a separate forum for LDD and other software - you're a lot more likely to get an answer there. Quote
Calabar Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 LDD screenshots are PNG files with alpha channel: that means you can add the background you want behind the subject of the image. To obtain this, you have to use the screenshot feature integrated in LDD, both from menu or using the CTRL+K keyboard shortcut. Quote

There are actually two different ways to take screenshots in LDD, so depending on what you want you can choose to use the corresponding method. All screenshots will be outputted as PNG images. The first one is to go into "View Mode" (the icon is in the top right corner or just press "F6") and use the "Screenshot" icon in the top right corner (or just press "Ctrl+K"). When you're ready just click it and save your image. Before you output your screenshot you can choose from one of the four backgrounds provided in LDD by clicking the "Change Background" icon on the top left corner (or just press "Ctrl+F"). Many projects on Ideas use this method as it's the default one and is the easiest to do. However, in my opinion those four backgrounds actually make the project screenshots look unprofessional and with more colours at the back you can't really focus solely on the model. Therefore, my preferred method is to stay on "Build Mode" (the icon is also on the top right corner and you can click it or press "F5" if you're in another mode) and take any screenshots from there. Either click on the "Tool Box" drop-down menu at the top left then click on the "Take A Screenshot" option near the bottom or just press "Ctrl+K" when you're ready, then save your image. This will produce screenshots with a White or Transparent background which helps to focus them on the model being shown. The above two methods will only screenshot your model but not involve any parts of the programme itself, such as the menus and icons. If you want to include those in your screenshot such as for reporting bugs and errors then you need to use the "Print Screen" function of your computer to capture the entire screen, then paste it into any image editing programme (Paint/Word/PowerPoint/etc.) and edit it from there for further use. Hope that this has been useful. Quote
