Trying to design a trash compactor

I'm attempting to build a trash compactor in LDD the kind that has two panels close together.

Something that looks like this 

What I need help with is a mechanism where you turn a single gear and the two panels move together to crush the items. 

Any veteran city builders know of a way to do so?

I've never tried doing something like this, but I believe the set Assault on Hoth has the same kind of mechanism you're looking for (check out the blast doors and how they can be opened).
