antp Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 (edited) Some time ago I made a minifig-size replica of my apartment, the next step was making the whole building. But as it would require more parts than what I have I settled for a microscale version. I had that project since some time, and a challenge on the Lego thread of the hardware.fr forum was a good opportunity for that. Photo of the actual building: Captures from Google Earth, giving a better view for an easier comparison: Page on my site: https://antp.be/lego/moc/apt-block.php Edited September 9, 2020 by antp replaced dead mocpage url Quote
Heksu Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Very nice! Dark red and tan looks beautiful together. And nice little cars! Maybe I would have covered the studs on the roof with tiles, but it's good like that, too. Quote
antp Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 Thanks. Indeed I hesitated putting tiles on the roof, like what was done in set 21010 Robie House (from where some of the dark red parts come from) Quote
antp Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 Some alternative roof tests made from comments received on another forum (and here above), that I forgot to post here, with red 45° slopes: with tiles on the 33° slopes: I still prefer my first version Maybe it would look good with dark red 45° slopes, but some required parts do not exist, and the roof is too high with such angle. The visible studs instead of tiles help to keep a Lego style for the whole set. Quote
KlodsBrik Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Great micro build. I do agree, first version looks better. No need to change anything in my oppinion. Quote
One-More-Brick Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 That's some pretty great microscale. Fantastic job! Quote
antp Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 Another update ; this time I added the building across the street, which is somewhat related because it was made the year before by the same company. The building is much more simple, square, so it is actually more difficult to make it looking good as microscale (less identifiable) Actual building: Quote
