AOW Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Hi. Has anyone been able to install the game on the CD that came with the set? I have this set with box but no CD was included. So I looked for the image. When I got it (downloaded from somewhere) and burn the "copy" once I insert CD installation guide is launched. I can hear the engine sound, options and that is.... What OS this was designed for WIN98? Regards Quote
Capparezza Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 (edited) I don't have neither set nor CD, but as this set was released in 1998 it's pretty safe to say the CD was designed for Windows 95, so it should run without any problems on 95, 98 an ME. If you are trying to run it with Win7, try the Compatibility Settings on either XP Mode, or Win98 Mode if XP doesn't work and also experiment with "Run this program as Administrator" rights. If neither does work, it could be that the CD relies on some DLLs or System calls that are no more existing within Win7... Good Luck! Edited October 13, 2016 by Capparezza Quote
RohanBeckett Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 a lot of multimedia titles of that era relied on Apple Quicktime to work - particularly when the company wanted to support both Mac and Windows PC's. Most likely you'll need Quicktime 2, or 3 installed. Usually the quicktime installer will be on the CDROM itself This can be quite difficult to install on anything newer than 32bit XP... definitely near-impossible on 64bit operating systems. You may be best to use some form of Virtualization - VirtualBox, etc to install a complete copy of Win98... FYI - here is the previous Eurobricks thread - and all the videos are on Youtube anyway.. Capparezza Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Hell, it says "Quicktime 3.0" in the Manual If possible, you can try to install a slightly newer version like 5.0, sometimes this works. Using a VM (or some old PC) with Win98 installed, like Rohan proposed, might be the more "hassle free" solution to it... Quote
