HallBricks Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hi! Could someone please help me identify the colors of theses three swords? My guess is from left to right: Pearl light grey, flat silver, Pearl dark grey. Could someone confirm that info? Quote
Aanchir Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Do you know what sets they came in? It's hard to judge just from one picture without any bricks in "known" colors to compare them to. Especially when dealing with BrickLink color names, which with metallic colors tend to be… inconsistent, to say the least. If it's any help, Pearl Dark Gray (148 Dark Grey Metallic or 316 Titanium Metallic) should be conspicuously darker than Dark Gray or Dark Bluish Gray (199 Dark Stone Grey) bricks. If the sword on the left is not conspicuously darker than those colors, it's probably Flat Silver (131 Silver or 315 Silver Metallic). In which case the other two would both be Pearl Light Gray (131 Silver). If the sword on the right IS conspicuously darker than Dark Gray or Dark Bluish Gray bricks, then I imagine your guesses are all correct. One nice thing about this sword is that it didn't appear in any sets from 2005 or 2006, so we can probably rule out any of these being 296 Cool Silver (which is generally lighter than 131 Silver but still considered Pearl Light Gray on BrickLink). Thank you for your detailed answer! I don't know which set or sets they came in. Below is a picture with the swords next to a dark bluish gray weapon. It's definitely not Pearl dark grey according to your description. I don't get the colors right since all three swords are in different colors. Quote

The sword on the right is Flat Silver, then (probably 315 Silver Metallic in official LEGO terms), and the two on the left are Pearl Light Gray (131 Silver). Your confusion is understandable. The primary cause of the confusion is that LEGO color 131 Silver was notoriously inconsistent. That's part of why so many BrickLink inventories that include parts in Pearl Light Gray also list Flat Silver as an alternate — originally, the two were basically different fan nicknames for the same color, depending on whether it came out of the mold looking light and streaky or dark and smooth. Between 2010 and 2011 LEGO finally permanently replaced 131 Silver with 315 Silver Metallic, which tends to be much smoother and more consistent in color. BrickLink is pretty good about identifying all 315 Silver Metallic parts as Flat Silver. Quote
