Hello everyone,

With all the new media production planned for Starwars ( and the massive and constant new waves of derived products, Lego included ), what do you guys think the impact will be for the hobby in the coming years?

Many people tend to stay on the same path when buying Lego Starwars, they either stick to OT or PT, a bit of everything and rarely stray from their formula, either be it monetary reasons, collection consistency or simply by taste. But now since 2015, we'll get a new Starwars movie until probably the rest of our lives, which means a truckload of new material.

While Starwars does not get it as bad like Marvel ( meaning not releasing 39 new movies a year ), do you think you'll have to expand your collection to new eras that will be featured, or simply stick with a reduced number of sets for the already existing you already have and love?

Thanks for sharing your opinions!

I'm sure there will be more trilogy's past the sequels and more anthology films in the future. For me right now I like everything lego Star Wars except the kotor sets. So I will probably continue collecting sets from the new movies unless I don't like designs of the vehicle/place sets. Hence my collection wil be huge one day with sets from all eras and I'll have to make a room just for them!

I don't like the prequel trilogy, but beyond that, I'll take anything and everything I can afford!

My shelf budget is going to have to expand in the coming years......

I'll always stick to the OT with regards to collecting. I reserved judgement on the Sequels until I'd watched TFA and I enjoyed it and liked the characters so I picked up some of those sets.

With Rogue One I'll also reserve judgement on those until I see it and again, if I like the characters I'll pick up the sets. I got the AT-ST as it's basically an OT set anyway.

I also liked the characters in Rebels so I picked up the Ghost and Phantom along with various figures and also now picked up Vader's TIE and A-Wing... again because they're basically OT sets. Thrawn being included is now a must for that set.

I'll probably go that way for most of the remaining media etc as it comes out... watch it... if I like it and I like the characters then I'll pick them up. I really didn't like how the characters came across in the PT so I've never felt the need to own any of the Jedi from there or clones for that matter. In fact Ahsoka is probably my favourite character from the PT/Clone Wars but I still haven't picked up the new figure. I also don't like the styling of the CW figures but I liked Asajj Ventress as a character so I picked up that figure (but not the Jedi Interceptor set) when they brought out the set last year.

I only collect ep 1-6 and Clone wars & Rebels.
I am starting to lack space to display.
Also, I have almost every ship that are seen in those film / episodes. I won't buy another set I have already. I have the 1999 Y-wing and therefore I won't get the new one.
So my time collecting should be over soon because according to me my collection is almost complete and also the price are getting ridiculous. (685$ with tax for the new death star, that is just too much)
And anyway, since I collect episode IV, I have everything to recreate episode VII right?

You are right about episode VII, I won't collect that whole trilogy, except for some sets here and there if they are nice. The Han solo stand alone film will likely not produce anything really interesting either.

I very largely stood up with only collecting OT stuff, and I could expand with any-thing related to Starwars's underworld or set near the OT stuff ( especially Rogue One, which is bold enough to make something new, despite knowing already how it ends ).
