Hello everyone,

Are there are anny other trustworthy sites in the United States where I could buy LEGO pieces from? The reason I ask is because I am not too fond of how BrickLink handles their payment methods. I find it rather bothersome and complicated. I would prefer to have it direct and easy, like Ebay. So if there are any websites where you can buy individual pieces for cheap, that includes bricks and minifigure parts and accessories, please let me know!

Thank you,

-Goliath

As a Bricklink seller, I'm interested in what you find difficult about the payment system.

A customer orders from me, I sent them an invoice, they pay it via Paypal.

From what you wrote, I'm guessing you want to pay for the product as soon as you put in an order. Is that right?

That's problematic, because a seller might have an incorrect inventory, or may not know the weight of what you are buying until they assemble everything.

I also sell on eBay, and use free shipping (to allow my buyers to immediately pay), but I also charge a higher price to make sure I'm not losing my shirt on shipping.

That is part of the problem, yes. I would prefer to buy on-site rather than having to wait for an invoice with the details. That is my main gripe with it. Among the first times I ordered there, I nearly got banned from the site because I did not pay within a certain time period. I find that ridiculous and I just do not want to sit and wait for the invoice, I have things to do.

I like things simple and straightforward, that is just my preference. If I could make payments from the site directly with links or something, I would not be as annoyed. I like how pieces and things are sold there, just not how payments are handled.

I just payed two orders on bricklink and can't really understand the issue. You place your order, the seller packs it together and as soon as that happens, you get the invoice and can pay on site or whatever. All you have to do is checking your emails or notifications. I like that better than paying up front and then finding out that some pieces are not in stock anymore and get a refund or so

It seems that you didn't read the store terms on payments. When I was a newbie in BL, all I really have to do is pay attention to the terms written in each store and drop a message to the seller to indicate that I am new to make sure I get the instruction crystal clear so I won't mess up. It also helps to setup an email notification and rule to ensure that you don't miss any Bricklink email. After 3 to 5 orders from different stores - it is very straight forward as soon as you get comfortable with different store policies. It is not different from any online selling platform like eBay. Things will only get complicated if you don't reply to sellers or you don't pay on time which will then reflect on your feedback.

You could try out BrickOwl. I've never ordered from there myself, but I think they're pretty much the same as Bricklink.

You can try LEGO Pick A Brick or Bricks n Pieces. You pay right at check out. You can also earn VIP points. PAB can qualify for free shipping if the order amount $$ meets the criteria.

BrickLink can be hit or miss with some sellers. Once I found a few reliable ones, I tend to stick with them. I usually to do a small test order with an unfamiliar seller first to evaluate their performance.

It's about as cumbersome as it can get.  It starts with the "easybuy" button, which is anything but easy. It finds a nice combination of stores and gives a quote.   However, next you discover that the quote is not worth the bits its made from, because store rules imply heavy surcharges due to small lot sizes.

Next come some additional charges for certain payment methods.  In one case a Polish seller wanted 5% extra for paypal, where paypal already quoted a crappy Zloty exchange rate.

Next you have to agree to buy without knowing the actual shipping fees - ridiculous.

The site is great in principle, but totally impracticable to use.

I highly recommend BrickOwl. Payments are done on site, and in my opinion it's a much better site to use.

Nice design, but purchasing a large inventory from different stores is not any easier than on bricklink.
