Mattallica Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) Have you had a Lego tragedy?, Lost a piece or an entire collection? did your dog eat your mr gold etc... lets hear about it. My story is about my search for set #41999 the special edition 4x4 crawler. After several attempts to chase one down and missing it by minutes in some cases, i was finally fortunate enough to find a store that had four of them. i bought one immediately and asked about getting a second for a friend, they made me wait an hour but they then let me buy another, so great i get them home and crack open mine it looks great and i start to go through the manual just looking at first then a bit later i sit down and start building, i soon discover im missing some pieces, so i start inventorying the set and im missing ALOT of pieces, like Hundreds of pieces im thinking what do i do? i can return the set but the odds are they are sold out of the others they had, being a limited edition, i can call customer service but they will never believe me that so many pieces are missing and think im trying to scam them, or even if they do they wont have many of the missing parts as some are rare or exclusive to this set, then it hits me, what if? what if the other set is some how missing parts so after talking to my friend we agree that i should open his( i was going to mail it cross country to him ASAP) sure enough his set is missing some of the same parts, no ALL the same parts WTF? i call customer service and talk to one of the reps she notes every part and quantity i am missing and says she will get back to me in a day or two, im really sweating it fearing that i am going to now have to return two rather expensive sets that have now been completely opened and try to get a refund. a few days later the rep calls me back and although she has no idea how that could have happened that all those parts were not in the boxes yet got out of the factory, she did note that all the parts were the contents of a few specific bags/joker bags, and she will send them all out, it takes a few weeks and two different shipments but i did receive all the parts, so my horror story at least has a happy ending. jamie75 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 My horror story is not about missing pieces. Mine is about getting scammed. Which only happened once, but, still makes me mad, even today. It was years ago! It was for an Airtech Claw Rig, 8868 and it was before paypal, Eurobricks and FBTB. I was about 20 years old and fairly new to the internet. Didn't know any better and lost $120. I learned my lesson and it never happened again. Jamie Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Just the typical AFOL horror story. It is short, but to the point. A long time ago, Mom sold the Galaxy Explorer, Alpha I rocket base, and the Yellow Castle in a garage sale. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Here's a bit of a story: I keep my LEGO in the loft. Storage and build space. One day, I tripped and tipped a box of plain bricks (Just the old 2x4s) and some slipped down a hole at the corner. Long story short, the brick-cavity wall in my house now has LEGO in it. Not much and nothing rare, but amusing at least. Quote
Captain Britain Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Not the biggest horror story but thought I'd share anyway! When I was looking to fill up my back catalogue of minifigures I'd missed from the Super Hero theme I picked up a few of them from eBay. One in particular was Mary Jane Watson from 76016. Now it wasn't expensive to buy her minifigure new from most places but I found one listing that was a little cheaper and also listed the minifigure as new.. bingo! The order was placed. It wasn't a minifigure I was overly excited about but the OCD in me needed to fill the hole so when it turned up I was eager to open the packet. Tipped out the minifigure and from the off I could see this wasn't going to be a great experience. She had a massive dent in the front of her face where it looks like the head has been pulled off using teeth - likewise the same indentation was in the back of the head. The hair also felt very loose... I pulled the hair off to have a look and what did I find in the little recessed part? Bluetack with a nice short stubby wiry hair . Cheers seller...! Thankfully they refunded the money in full and didn't want it back (not even the curly wurly - go me right? Freebie) but it's safe to say I don't think anybody else wanted that either so I disposed of the head and hair (both hairs!) and kept the torso and legs for a rainy day - Never know when you might need a new torso! I've also had Power Man turn up looking like he'd been run over (Guess he doesn't really have unbreakable skin) and Batman with a big stick of blue plastic stuck up his leg?! Go figure.. Quote
