Hello, I have been trying to get into Rock Raiders but I can't seem to find any of the books and things at my local library, I was wondering if someone could tell me the story.

I find it so hard to believe that Lego invested so much on creating sets, a story, and a game based on this theme, only to abandon it so quickly. Did it sell poorly?

I know I picked up 3 sets (including the largest, the base) on half-off clearance. But that might just be anecdotal support for that theory.

I remember the Rock Raider HQ set being on clearance forever at a toy store near my house, but that's anecdotal too.

It really depends on where you look. Brickset and Bricklink list it aside from space. But it is a sci-fi theme.

I seem to remember that Rock Raiders originally was planned to be a space theme, or that Lego viewed it as a space theme, but I might be getting confused with Aquazone.
