marshall Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I just built the set 6081 using spare parts, and I can't figure out what the Technic pin at the bottom left side is for. Is there another set that is supposed to attach/add on to this set? Quote
BrickCurve Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Ata guess, it would be for people to attach other castles to, such as this one- http://brickset.com/sets/6080-1/King-s-Castle. Quote
deraven Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Ata guess, it would be for people to attach other castles to, such as this one- http://brickset.com/.../Kings-Castle. Yes, 6081 is from 1990 and may have been the last to include it (though it does seem almost like an afterthought there), but earlier castle buildings included the technic connection on the walls so you could connect multiple sets together to make a bigger castle/fortress. A good example of a set that was OK on its own but obviously meant to be added to others is the 6062 Battering Ram from 1987. You can clearly see the pin on the box picture, even. Quote
The_Cook Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 As mentioned in the previous posts it was the last of the classic era castles designed to connect together with other castles to form a bigger stronghold. The singular pin on it's own isn't that useful, a second connection point is needed in order to allow a wall to loop around and create a courtyard or bailey. The modifications are fairly simple for anyone with a reasonable supply of old grey bricks. An example of the 6081 being connected into part of a larger setup can be found here. Quote
