Didumos69 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I once sturdified the LEGO 94.8 x 44 R Balloon tires (54120) by filling them with LEGO 94.2mm D. x 22mm Motorcycle Racing Tread tires (88516). After playing around with them on a flat surface for a while I noticed they ride a lot lighter too, with far less resistance. I can imagine this could also be of use for RC trial trucks to avoid these tires from severe misshaping under heavy circumstances, causing them to run off the rims completely. This solution also prevents the rim from slipping inside the tire, something that has actually been reported for this tire. The motor tire expands the balloon tire slightly - diameter increases by approx. 3mm - which causes the sides of the tire to be pulled inwards slightly. This in turn causes the edges of the tire to induce more grip on the edges of the rim. Quote

The tires are fitted between the outer gears of the turntable, and they fit very well, here is an example: There is also the possibility to place normal rims attached to the turntables using this design: EDIT: I forgot to say, this only works for tires with an inner diameter of 1.9", this includes most of the 1.9 RC 3rd party tires (like in the first picture) and the tires of the 8110, 9398, and possibly the tires of the 42054 (not sure if someone tested it with these ones) Edited August 23, 2017 by Imanol BB Quote
1gor Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) I have made similar thing like @Didumos69, but with BMW motorbike motocross tire (100.6mm) inside 94.8 x 44 R baloon tire and then put them both inside of CLAAS tire on wheel 56 x 34 racing medium. Result is CLAAS tire with some 110-111mm diameter and no deformation but tire is more sturdy which is eventualy good for heavier vehicles Edited August 23, 2017 by I_Igor Quote
agrof Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 (edited) Hello All, I would like to ask for some help. Can somebody check please, if the tyre 24x43 (3740) would fit - and how well on 43,2x26 (56908) wheels? I am wondering to use this combination for a crawler, and if these tires would be good at all, considering the grip, and the friction inbetween the mentioned combination. Thank You in advance! 1gor Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 It works very good with light bluish gray and blue rim. Lime is slight thinner so tire is easier to put on/off from lime. I do not have black ones so I do not know about black rim. Quote
agrof Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks for the prompt answer @I_Igor! Could You post a picture about, please? Interesting to hear, that color variants have some deviation, though. Quote

Interesting to hear, that color variants have some deviation, though. Unfortunately I could make an image next week because until wednesday I'm away from lego. Shortly light bluish grey and blue are about 1 mm bigger in diameter than lime. There is also a discussion about lime rims on eurobricks...I was looking for tires for 1:13.5 Unimog that are "reaistic" narrow with 81.6mm diameter and got an idea like you, but tread pattern IMHO of 24 x 43 tires is not for mog but it is stiffer than 94.8 x 44 on 56 rim Quote
agrof Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Perfect, thanks Guys! Now I am more confident to order those tires. Quote
