zux Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 @Sariel....i am surprised you did not highlight the Black Technic brick brought back into production since 2000, Part #2743....its a pretty big deal IMO> excellent review as always, superb parts pack. not sure about the splashes of Orange...does the real vehicle even have Orange? Didn't find much MOCs using such piece. Not sure why would this be a big deal. On the other side connector #2 in Orange would seem to be better to highlight. There's much more applications for it. But these both are neither new or recolour, so no reason for mentioning them. Quote
allanp Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 3 sets over 1000 pieces for the second wave, and I want every one of them. Oh my poor wallet! Thanks again for the excellent review Sariel. I too would agree that the hoses look messy, and that they looked much better on 8868. However I'm still just so happy about their investment in the V2 pneumatic parts. Also the mess of hoses reminds that there are in fact pneumatics there in the first place. A hose (messy or neat like 8868) is still way more authentic and better than a rotating shaft . Quote

It's nice to see it back, but I wouldn't exactly call it rare. Quote

I am agree, maybe it would look much better if the hoses weren't placed so messy, but at least we are able to put some of these pieces to keep the hoses closer to the arm: Is good they are still releasing the new pneumatic parts and they are not making those ugly and big mechanic systems which are not very efficient. Dafgek81 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Ik woud likeur tot put aan normal digging bucket ons the end of thee arm insted of thee clamshell buckets. Woud look nice to. Quote
allanp Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I have run hoses through those pieces and cross blocks and so on, but by far the neatest, most authentic and best looking solution is to use rigid flex system hoses (like on 8868). But it could be that, of all the pieces TLG have ever instructed us to fit a pneumatic tube onto, I have found the rigid flex hose probably to be the most tricky. Of course, this is relative as I find it fairly easy in absolute terms, it's only tricky relative to attaching pneumatic hose to all the other parts. So I guess some younger kids with the attention span of a gold fish might complain. Best trick is simply to wash your hands right before attaching any pneumatic hoses. Even if your hands are clean your skin still has oil in it which can make it harder to grip tiny plastic T-pieces and tiny plastic tubes. Quote
Lakop Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the reveiw but my mind was already made up. This is the one for me, within the price range, I get new longer pneumatics (could not afford the 42043) and I think i've earned it. My only lego set this year (for now). I look forward to it. I like the lifting cab and the hood that covers the pneumatics. I'm impressed with the new sets this year and glad I can get one. I nearly forgot, I like the B model of this. Minique85 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Thank you Sariel for another great review, this is another must buy. Lego has really outdone themselves for the H2 sets this year. First mod will be the bucket and pneumatic hoses. I also wish they would reintroduce the rigid hoses, it looks so much better and authentic. Looking forward for the B model review! Quote
agrof Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Thank You Sariel for the high quality review! This set has a lot playing value! Could look less messy, but represents very well the original Volvo model. Quote
Carefree_Dude Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Hi, sorry to bump an old topic but I have a question.i just bought the set new, and only one bag is numbered: the bag with the pneumatic parts. It's number 11. Is this normal? Quote
