JJ2 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I got some 8880 hub and z3_2drive told me the wheel hub can break under high stress and I wonder how much stress they can take because my use for them will be very high stress and I don't want to break them for obvious reasons. Thanks JJ2 Quote
allanp Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I have never broke one, I guess z3_2drive is the best person to ask as he apparently has. Quote
nicjasno Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Keep them lubricated. They have too much friction and slack. The combination together with drops from higher elevations can break either the rotor or a ball joint can snap off of the hub. Happened to me aswell. Quote
z3_2drive Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 (edited) To clarify, I didn't break the 8880 hub, mostly because I noticed the issues before any hardcore testing. There was a lot of friction and the hub+CV part shaved off some material, but as nicjasno said it is not sturdy and can break under high stress. The printed CV parts haven't broken yet, and I've put them through hell. But that was with buggy motors. I can't speak for their strength against hobby grade rc motors.
