So I'm building a pretty large layout in my garage, and I plan on using ME Model rails for the curves in order for my trains to be able to go faster and have less overhang.

Does anyone know the size of a half loop of R104, R88, and R72 curves?

Respectively, their size is going to be double that of the radius plus the width of the track, since track radius is measured from halfway in-between the rails. A R104 is going to be 216, since a piece of track is 8 studs wide. Converted into feet, the R!04 us going to be 5.7 feet wide from the outer track edges. A R88, is going to be 184 studs or 4.9 feet rounded up. And a R72 is going to be 152 studs and 4 feet wide.

storms26,

This diagram was recently reposted in another thread and contains the radius of the various track geometries. Note that ME Models classifies their curves by radius in studs. http://www.brickdime...aticLibrary.png

If you can provide some rough dimensions, then we may be able to make some suggestions though ultimately the choice is yours to make.

a full turn of R-104 curves I believe is 6ft wide so half of that would be 3 ft. When i get home from work I will measure when I get home to be sure.

But is the radius measured from the outside or the inside curve on ME track? If it's from the inside curve then R72 won't fit, it will have at least six studs overhanging from the table's edge.

You will see that the answer to your question has been posted ;)

Typically radius is measured to the center of the object unless otherwise noted.

My layout is going to be 4 foot by 16 foot, and I'd be having pretty large engines running, so the large curves would make a big difference.
