KamalMYafi Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) I don't know if this thread has been posted or not? but i thought this might be a fun thread to know who introduced you to LEGO? When? and What Set? For me, My Father introduced me to LEGO when i was at primary school (Indonesia) to set 8547: Mindstorms NXT 2.0 (My First LEGO Set) Who introduced you to LEGO? When? and What Set? Edited May 9, 2017 by KamalMYafi Change the Title Quote
Alfadas Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 My parents introduced me to it, when I was like 2 or so, with Duplo. Later some city sets, and after that everything got out of control with some Star Wars, but mostly Castle sets. Now my entire room is filled with Lego. Quote
legoguy1984 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I have no idea. Probably my parents but I was way too young to remember for sure. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Got a Duplo rattle in the 'Newborn box' that the hospital gave out. Mum loved it and bought me more. Then actual Duplo sets and once I passed the age where trying to eat everything, she bought me some System. Mum is awesome. Quote
-zenn Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Parents with Duplo set 2024, round 1 or 2 years old. Don't remember it though. My most vivid memory of getting Lego, was set 6373, set 6693 & set 6450. Explains why I tend to build vehicles, especially motorcycles I guess. Quote
bricklover Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 My mom bought me a big blue box of Lego at age 3-4. Then I just kept going from there. Quote
B-Legos Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 My first non-duplo set was a box of bricks my dad and i bought from the local toy store when i was really young, i even remember building with it all afternoon. Cant remember the set number or name off the top of my head and the instruction book is most probably at the bottom of my instruction box . It had an instruction book with some instructions for some models and some inspiration pages for other models. There was about 3 similar sets available at the time and this was the costruction site/boat one i believe? i ended up with all three to start my collection i think. Quote
Rotundus Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Unlike the rest of you I did not grow up with LEGO. A few of my friends had them, but I thought that they looked so "mechanical" and far too "square-ish" for me. As a youngin' I preferred something called American Plastic Bricks. They looked more like real bricks to me. It wasn't until I was 52 that I took another look at LEGO. I was in a department store and saw a LEGO Racers kit and thought that it had some really nice lines to it. I forget exactly which one now. (It was eventually destroyed by the son of a woman I had dated several years later.) Not to worry, though. Since then I discovered two LEGO stores, (one corporate, one private), where I got a chance to find that LEGO is no longer all squares and rectangles. Now I am a happy LEGO builder with 5 trains (3 corporate, 2 MOC's), 3 vehicles (all corp.), one town style building MOC (WIP) and one Red Baron. Oh, I almost forgot.... The set(s) that ultimately hooked me? The Emerald Night train and the older VW Beetle. Edited July 29, 2016 by Rotundus Quote
ElectroDiva Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I think i was first introduced to Lego (Duplo blocks) at school. I do remember my parents never wanted to buy me any when i was very young because they saw it as a "boy's toy" That soon changed though :) Quote
Foxw Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 not a clue, likely when i was 3 or 4, many moons ago, but would of been one of 70's town sets or classic space sets, can't say for sure as folks gave it all away when i was 10ish Quote
dr_spock Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Department stores Jordan Marsh and Filenes. They had big LEGO displays around holidays. Maybe 4 or 5 when I asked for a tow truck set. Quote
csi304 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Always been interested in LEGO from Castle themes in the 80s, space themes in the 90s, Hero Factory, Star Wars, and now Nexo Knights. Quote
Lego_Girl Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I think I saw them in the toy store when they were firat available here. I bought my first set then and it was the Country Club Paradisa which I still have. https://goo.gl/images/86rVa9 Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Most likely my parents or my grandma. I started with some little sets and a couple of decades later my collection grew considerably! Quote
