Hello! Time for a new MOC and this time it's H1 Unlimited Hydroplane race boat. TLG has announced their on set 42045 Hydroplane Racer http://brickset.com/...ydroplane-Racer which is nice but so small set, so I decided to do something bigger. My model is just a display model with just one or two functions but I wanted to try create the shape of this machine with Lego Technic parts... It was not that simple but I put something together anyways

First a picture of original ones:

Then some backgroun from wikipedia:

The H1 Unlimited (prior to the 2009 Oryx Cup, known as ABRA Unlimited (American Boat Racing Association) since 2004[5]) class is sanctioned by APBA, its governing body in North America and UIM, its international body.

Unlimited Hydroplanes are fast boats capable of more than 320 km/h (200 mph) on the straightaways and running average lap speeds of 209–266 km/h (130–165 mph). They are 8.5–9.1 metres (28–30 ft) in length and weigh a minimum of 3,060 kilograms (6,750 lb).

The modern turbine-powered unlimited hydroplane is derived from the 3-point prop-riding hydroplanes of the 1950s. These were the first boats to ride on a cushion of air trapped between "sponsons" mounted on the sides of the front of the boat, and the bottom half of the propeller, which were all that touched the water.

They were called "Unlimited" because they were the only class of boat racing the APBA that had no restrictions on the displacement size of their piston engines. The designation Unlimited has stayed with the class in the turbine era, even though there are restrictions on the turbine engine and its fuel.

The Lycoming T55 L7C, originally used in Chinook helicopters, is not the only turbine engine currently allowed in the sport.[6]

And then my creation...

Aluminium foil in the back of engine is only non technic part (just for the looks)

Dimensions are L45xW20xH15 cm.

This was quite a quick build to try to catch the shape and having fun too, of course :wink:Comments and critics are (as always) most welcome

It looks nice, can it float?

To replace the foil you could put a silver rim where the foil is if you have a silver rim.

Thanks :classic: As to answer your question, I tested and made a video... Front end tries to float, back end sunks like a rock so the answer is no

And no, I don't have no silver rim or not even gray rim to use but maybe next time when I order something from BL I fix that, thanks for advice :sweet:

I have seen some hydroplane races, and you really nailed the look. I would like to see a transport trailer for it, if possible!

Many thanks for the compliment, it means a lot to me  Yes, I thought too that it would be nice to have cool transportation vehicle and trailer. That would be a massive build but maybe I will calculate my parts and order some (lot) more from BL because something like this would be just so awesome:
