Galilego Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hi all : ) I found a bunch of "maxi-figures" in a market few days ago. I almost managed to rebuild the complete set of the "LEGO Familly" from 1979 out of it. Few characters had blue feet - which makes me think that there is definitely different sets blended together (and none complete). The faces' decorations almost totally disappeared, but one head is having a different eye deco (with a line going under the eye). It really seems like the original deco, not added with a pen or anything. It should be different enough to identify the set it is coming from, but even with this clue, so far it has been impossible to solve this mystery ! Maybe you could have more clues than me : D ? Mystery mystery ! Quote
mpfirnhaber Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I think there were five patternss - normal, with eyebrows, with glasses, with mustache, and with freckles. If you have the head with glasses, it appeared in 27 sets (according to BrickLink), so without seeing what else you found, it's tough to narrow down. Quote
deraven Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Yeah, the only head I can think of that it might be is the one with spectacles, but that doesn't seem to fit. It would be really odd for only the glasses to have worn off completely between the mouth and the eye on that side that still has most of the printing. Quote
Galilego Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Deraven, yeah, the glasses deco is located under the eyes, and not on them. So it can't be it. mpfirnhaber, I can't post other pictures for now, but I can tell you that it was a bunch of "customized" maxi-figures - (meaning, all disassembled and re-assembled differently it seems) - mostly with totaly or almost totaly erased faces. On one you can still see the glasses, and it is clearly a different deco. One had blue feet. But that is all I can tell you for now, I will update pictures as soon as I can if it helps. I also thought there were only five different decos, which is why this one surprised me - do you think it could come from one of the last maxi-figures sets where they could have tried to introduce some novelties ? Tezclatipoca Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Hello ! I agree with you on the spectacles position. It's not fitting with your pictures. Maybe I am wrong but it could be a printing default on an eyebrows' face printing. I already saw such default, not on old pieces but on the 1x1 round tiles with an eye printed on it. The printing was so bad that it seemed the eye was flooding away from the tile and it had something like the printing you're showing us. I will try to find that tile and show you a picture ASAP. If I am right, it's too bad that the only remnant printing on that face is a default one ! Quote
