murphy_slaw Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I'm looking for some examples of robot/mech hands that don't use Exo-Force robot arms for fingers. This seems to have become the standard technique for mechs of a certain size, and while it's effective it's kind of overused. Are there some good examples of mechs (in official sets or MOCs) with more interesting techniques of building hands? Quote
Space Police XVIII Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I've seen a few designs using these http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=11090 instead of robot arms, also a rather common technique. I've been wondering about this myself, trying to design an original mech. Quote
LucByard Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 I used Exo Forcce robot hands (I call them clamps) for fingers and a nozzle in a 1x1 w/top clip for the thumb in this mech but it does result in a smaller hand. You might be able to enlarge it a little though. Maybe widen it and put technic connectors on the fingers to thicken and lengthen them or something. Quote
Kalais Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 (edited) You can use ordinary minifig hand as robot finger too: Edited June 11, 2016 by Kalais Quote
danth Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 http://brickset.com/sets/76059-1/Spider-Man-Doc-Ock-s-Tentacle-Trap That set uses ball jointed fingers. Quote
