The previous bardings were modified using flex tubing so that it can go around the front of the horse. The Samurai riders taken from the Ninjago minifigs for their color schemes signifying different clans.

Cool

However, samurai aren't the kind to don masks.

I guess it makes sense that more colors is better for distinguishing, but maybe some other headgear could me worn instead, I feel like this doesn't stay very true to samurai.

That is not true, they would where a "Demon" mask in an attempt to scare the enemy.

Is it just me or is two of the samurai the same color?

Really neat MOC! I'm kind of surprised you have two samurai in black masks instead of one in Zane's silver mask. Curious what your reasons for that were, but it doesn't detract from the model.

The horse barding is nice but I'm also really liking the little bit of landscaping you did. If this scene were displayed on a flat baseplate it wouldn't be nearly so impressive. But the curved slopes are enough to make it feel more like actual scenery and less like a mere display base.

It'd be cool if LEGO made some new tall, narrow flags like those ones they had in the classic ninja sets! Lately they've been getting good mileage out of standard flag pieces, tiles, etc, but those old-school ninja flags were pretty neat in their own right.

Perhaps I misworded that.

Samurai aren't the kind to don hoods, especially ones that look like ninja hoods. With cloth fabric, wrap, with the belt tie and everything.

Thanks all for the comments and the curved slopes technique has been used before in the SW desert landscape except that they're available in green now.
