Andy D Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I remember a post a couple of months ago about mounting the superstructure of the 42042 on the base of the 42009. I am in the process of rebuilding the 42009 (fun the first time, still fun the second time) and seeing what can be done with the superstructure and gearbox from the 42042 sounds interesting. Any help finding this thread or post much appreciated. Andy D Quote
N-4K0 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 (edited) I don't know if this is the same post you saw, but I found one about this: http://www.eurobrick... crawler&st=250 - post #259 The user have switched the superstructures on the 42009 and 42042. Edited May 27, 2016 by Error404 Quote
Andy D Posted May 27, 2016 Author Posted May 27, 2016 Yep, that as it! I remembered wrongly that there was more information. Thanks, Andy D Quote
N-4K0 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 No problem. It's worth a try if you want to, the only real modification I can see having to be done is the connection through the turntable, but I imagine that could be dropped in favor of e.g. an extra battery box on the truck part of the 42009, controlling the outriggers without having to go from the superstructure through the turntable. Right now the connection through the turntable for the 42042 drives the tracks, I believe the drive could be used for the outriggers on the 42009. I think I will try to use the superstructure rotation and then see how I can use the other 2 functions. I think I will complete the 42009, then try to adapt the 42042 superstructure to the 42009.
