Bob De Quatre Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 One year ago, on May 12th, I launched Eurobricks new science-fiction Role Building Game: Andromeda's Gates. After months of hard work with a few enthusiastic members, it was finally a reality. Since then, more than 100 players created more than 1350 builds and participated in 4 Challenges! The AG team has changed since the beginning, but is still working hard for the future of AG... and planning AG2! I personally want to thank everyone who supported me during the last 2 years, from the rough ideas to nowaday, including EB staff (and former staff), fellow AG judges (current and past) and of course AG players! Umbra-Manis Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 In honor of the one year anniversary of Andromeda's Gates, I thought I'd take a look back at the first year and invite others to do the same. First off I want to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this game, as well as all the judges, CEOs (No matter how much I scratch my head after reading their stories ), and everyone who has built something! I joined Andromeda's Gates the first day sign ups were open way back May 14 2015. I had joined Eurobricks back in December of 2014, and I really became a frequent user when I started building for Challenge IV over in GoH, but It was AG that really got me into the mood to build sci-fi. While most of my early sets were sci-fi, I hadn't built MOCs for the theme in a while. Building for M.A.N.T.I.S. really gave me a consistent theme for my Sci-fi builds and it's been lot of fun with the theme weeks like Steampunk, Castle, and Star Wars. Random Fact: The first week of Andromeda's Gates ended on Friday, not Sunday. This Folder on bricksafe has everything I've built over the course of the year for AG, and It's been a great ride. (Now I should get my stuff on flickr ) From my first AG fighter build (And the very first MANTIS build) to this Dojo to Octan builds and Kawashita ones from the absolute craziness and just crazy creatures And to all the builds that made this universe the unique, diverse, and most definitely funny thing that it is: Garmadon's Duck Stories, Moose's Ships, Koro's life with his mechanic, anything Pombe, Larvae Fridays, Spy School, Hannibal's environments, Death Ray Blasters (Come Back Mark!), Missing characters, crazy characters, and everything in between that I can't remember right now. Thanks everyone for a great year! Quote
Col. Brik Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I've had so much fun building with a goal. Some weeks it is tougher than others but it has made me appreciate the skills everyone here has. Here is to another year and the idea of AG2! Quote
Mr Greeble Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Hey... I was gone for a while, but now I'm back... Can I still say happy anniversary? Quote
mediumsnowman Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Happy birthday AG! I've been here since the first sign-up threads were open. I must be ancient. Unfortunately other commitments have put my building on hold for the last few weeks, but I hope to triumphantly return sometime soon! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I was hesitant about joining AG at first, as I was already involved with several LEGO RPGs. But David FNJ, LittleJohn, and Mark of Falworth all helped me decide to join MANTIS, which I definitely haven't regretted. Being a castle MOCer, I've never done all that much sci-fi, but AG got me building it regularly, even building a SHIP! Plus getting to know lots of other great builders and storytellers was a blast Here's a look back at some of my favorite builds for AG: Quote
Kodan Black Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) I started a bit late (week 2 or 3?), but since then I haven't missed a single week. Ideally want to him 52 straight weeks of builds (at 42 right now) before even thinking of taking a week off. Been a lot of fun and I've learned a lot from everyone. Looking forward to AG2! Oh, and I'm now the 4th highest earner in the game! Edited May 13, 2016 by Kodan Black Quote
EpsilonEta Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Happy anniversary Andromeda's GATEs! I joined AG two weeks after launch and didn't plan to build much. That didn't last long and since then I have made 41 weekly builds (not counting new arrivals on week 46), 7 challenge builds, missed 2 weeks (not counting the first two), gotten the third most credits in the game, become CEO of Kawashita and a staff member. Thank you Bob and everyone else for making this game! Also, David FNJ mentioned to summarize his story which gave me the idea to do the same for Raven's first year in Andromeda. I will post it as a freebuild at my anniversary on May 31. Quote
VK-318 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Happy anniversary! While the launch of AG came at right about the time that I had to take a break from LEGO (it's a long story), I was one of those who pushed for something like this, and I'm glad that I've finally been able to get involved! It's been an honor to work with and against you all, and I hope to continue and stick with it through AG2, though hopefully that'll take a while to happen. Quote
Big Sal Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) First, I'd just like to say thanks to all the players and staff for creating this awesome world for us all to build in I've been looking over the stats for the first year, and here are some of my findings: Congratulations are in order for Pombe, who is the only member to have built every single week so far, and to also have entered every category of every challenge SpacerSteve and Kodan have also done the same, except they didn't join until Week 2 and Week 3 respectively. So congratulations to them as well! Unless I've missed something somewhere, it looks like the only other player to have entered every category of every challenge is... uh... me Though EpsilonEta came close! Counting only players with more than 5 weekly builds, the top 5 players by average score so far are: 1. shmails: 13 builds, average score 5.38 2. Bob: 13 builds, average score 5.15 3. Sal: 29 builds, average score 5.14 4. Andrew JN: 9 builds, average score 5.00 5. StarHawk3: 30 builds, average score 4.97 (From which we can learn that it pays to be a judge . But let's all try to either get shmails back to the game, or knock him off the top spot!) Finally, I'll leave you with pictures of the nine builds that managed to score a perfect 7 in this first year. Special mention should go to David FNJ, who managed to drop three(!) 7s in the space of 2 months! So far, no one has managed to score a perfect 10 for a competition build - consider that a challenge for year 2! Battle on Guinevere, by David FNJ: Mission S-F02, by David FNJ: Do I Really Want to Know What That Is?, by Lady K: Sorn Sabotage, by David FNJ: The Ancient God of Jurin II - part 1, by Aliencat: Experiment L6C10, by Big Sal (judges must have been drunk ): The Palinurus, by Ecclesiastes: I am the Turtle Pt. 3, by SpacerSteve: Hostile environment exploration, by Bob De Quatre: And since we're ending with Bob's beautiful build, special thanks to Bob for building the game and doing so much behind the scenes to keep it running  Edited May 17, 2016 by Big Sal Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Sal, you forgot the ninth 7: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113322 Quote
Big Sal Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) Oops, how could I forget that?! Added Edited May 17, 2016 by Big Sal Quote
LittleJohn Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I didn't join until week 2, and I was actually going to join Octan initially (even had a sig-fig built!), but decided against it as they were getting so many members. Plus, several builders I knew were going to be joining MANTIS: Mark of Falworth, Isaac Redsyn, David FNJ, Andrew JN, and MassEditor, to name a few. So I joined MANTIS and have had a blast collaborating with the rest of the corp My first build for AG: And a few of my favorites (though I never quite managed to get that ever-illusive 7...) Quote
pombe Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Wow! It's been a year! Here are some of my favorites. Quote
Kodan Black Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Wow, forgot about the Dr. Long-bot. Definitely one of the most stunning builds in AG. I still remember being so blown away when you showed the full exterior. Quote
