Malou Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I'll start by saying I'm not a technic guru... I'm currently designing something and I have trouble designing a parts using technic gears system. I basically want to be able to turn all 4 axles in this 1/4 circle, all at the same speed if possible. I played with LDD tonight and I found a solution so #1 and #3 are geared up together (see below). I also have an idea how to do #1 and #4 together, but from there, I'm clueless. I attached an LXF file with the above solution if you want to get your hand on what's going on. P2P_HELP.lxf I really like this 1/4 circle shape. I could do with a larger overall radius, but no more than maybe 4 studs larger so this fits with the set of the design... I'll see if I have enough real life parts tomorrow to make a few tests.. Does any technic jedi master here have an idea how I could achieved this? Thanks a lot! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 (edited) How about another shaft like you have running along side it? The second shaft would connect the forth and second which would be joined onto the first shaft by gears (three so it turns the same direction). Edited May 9, 2016 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
DrJB Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 (edited) It might be easier if you used the DB gears. The problem with cardans is that the speeds will vary. Do you need ALL axles to be rotating in the same direction or is it ok if they alternate? If so, how about the example below? INcidentally, I started a thread few days ago about using gears in other angles than 0/90 degrees. This is one such example. Edited May 9, 2016 by DrJB Quote
Jurss Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Biggest toothgear seems too small, to put it in to center. Maybe there coulb be used big turntable. But it also seems, that there is no correct centre, where to put some central gear. Quote
RohanBeckett Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 what's the application? do you really need all axles driven, or is it something like a large turntable, where you might be fine with just 2, or 4 driver axles, at 90' and 180' (much easier to gear) Quote
allanp Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Could you use the large turntable as a central bevel gear like you would find on a merry go round? Quote
Malou Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 I need to built it using real bricks, but so far all axles need to be turning. In the same direction yes. The goal is to have a small cart or vehicle turn itself around (u turn). a central big gear could do it. I'll play around tonight. I tought of having something push the cart around, but since the overall thing is U shaped, the small strait line where a challenge.... Quote
