Vectormatic Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Ah right, i hadnt spotted that the dif was free floating in that design, got it now! Quote
jgw Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 This is a super topic! It is a MOD, but also WIP, put into a nice jacket! This is very fun to read, like you are buying new part for the car. Also a very nice MOD. Quote
BusterHaus Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) I made an independent suspension, 13 studs wide, for the TC9 contest. Looks like you have space to fit it, although the wheels might rub the fenders. This is a very fun read, by the way. Edited May 12, 2016 by BusterHaus Quote
MRP_ Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I find it somewhat hilarious how long it took me to figure out what was going on here, I never would have thought of a "roleplay" style thing like this here! A+ for creativity! and a solid A for the car itself (so far) Also it needs a cap for the shifter, how about one of these? http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jamesster/Other/new_and_old_skull.png Quote
Jurss Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 Finally got some littlebit satisfying version of rear suspension It would be good to put it littlebit higher, but half stud could be too much. I need it to make also wider. But one stud could be OK, but it is again hard to make. 2 studs could be again - too much ... It would be nice to make everything by one stud shorter, not to make big bumber. Quote
Vectormatic Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Amazing job Jurss! Instead of just buying 42021 i figured i should give proper MOCing a go, so i bought 42035 (for the wheels mainly) and set out to make a properly proportioned chassis (with the wheels as reference) And i got stuck on the front axle I do have a set of the new ball-joint suspension arms, but the accompanying steering links make it very hard to get a proper width and working steering... And i dont have the parts (shocks and UV joints) to do proper rear suspension, so im considering just going non-sprung chassis. Quote
Jurss Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 Your are building on tires from 42035? See axle collection thread, there are lot of engineering wonders. Quote
Vectormatic Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Yup, they were the cheapest option for a set of somewhat road-like tires for me, outside of getting 42021 or bricklinking. And honestly right now my main problem is a lack of parts in the parts bin, i dont have the parts available for a proper suspension setup, so ill be going un-sprung for now. Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 nice job, i really like it but the gears ont the rear bumper are bothering me still nicely done TNLD Quote
Jurss Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 I just fit rear suspension, there is not yet any bumper. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Cool setup! Does this build really need 4 Yellow shocks? Is it that heavy? Quote
Jurss Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 4 are mainly for symmetry. Soft ones seemed too soft. There is pretty big "arm of force"/lever. And, as it is "sports car", it needs hards suspension. Anyway, i need to rebuild it, or forget about suspension. Maybe remove differential for better suspension. Quote
superdog Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Very nice idea, seeking your new rebuild model. Quote
