iamded Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I didn't see this around, but if it's already been posted, I apologise. *sad* So anyway, I thought I'd save brickbitz the trouble (again) and post a link to his wonderful review, which you can find here (or click the picture)! *sweet* I think this is a really cool set, a nice new style compared to the other houses, and in a nice bright colour! Perfect for a beach house. :-D The little barbeque is a fantastic touch! :-D ~Peace Quote

AgentRick Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I think brickbitz lives somewhere in Britain, as he sometimes mentions Woolworths in his review, so it would actually be 20 British Pounds. Quote
Hinckley Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Brickbitz, Thanks so much for the review. Can we see closeups of those new doors and windows please? *wub* Quote
Belloq Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 20$? Yaysies for me! I'd pay hundreds for that Barbie-Q :-D ! *wub* Quote
AgentRick Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I checked on S@H, and it's $30, NOT 20, 30. Also, it's up for order, just in time for Non-Denominational-Winter-Solstice-Festivities! :-D Quote
brickbitz Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Brickbitz,Thanks so much for the review. Can we see closeups of those new doors and windows please? *wub* The new style doors. The black door seems flimsy and doesn't fit snugly into the frame, on the other hand the transparent door is fine. You can see it has the door handle as well. I tried several shots to reduce the glare on the window, but then I could barely see any detail at all. Although it's a 2x2 size it just seems different. I suspect it's mainly the flat window pane. The two indents to hold the pane are only on one edge. This is fine for houses as it provides a window sill effect. However I also have the new postal plane which I will have a review for shortly. The bad news is that the airplane style windows now use this flat pane as well, and in this case it's just not as good as the old bevelled edge pane. Quote
Batbrick Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Thankyou very much Brickbitz for this lovely review! and thankyou very much TLC for such a lovely set! *wub* This one is great, and awesome to see it come with a slanted window peice. The barbecue is perfect, and its awesome we get a chicken wing! *wub* Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Hinckley Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 The new style doors. ... Thanks! You are the best! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Thank you for the review, jamded! That's a great apartment house! Why only TLC didn't release it as a "normal" City set with an open back side, with some interior, a car and some minifigs?! That would have been amazing - but regrettably that's not the case! Quote

The review was done by EB member brickbitz.I do wish these were released as City sets. Why there has to be the separation of residential houses into Creator is beyond me... Quote
Joebot Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I do wish these were released as City sets. Why there has to be the separation of residential houses into Creator is beyond me... I can't quite figure that one out either. I realize it's just branding, and I should simply be grateful that we even get these house sets (regardless of what category TLC decides to sell them under), but it's still weird. The new doors and windows are interesting. I hope this is just the first move towards a more coherent, modular set of window designs. New windows in some new sizes is something I've been wanting for years now. Quote
Quarryman Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Thanks for the review, and the closeups brickbitz :-) Just one question, are the new doors symmetrical? So they can be fit inside the frames both ways? If they are we can use two of the transparent ones next to each other, something I think would look pretty good :-) Quote
Freddie Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 The new doors and windows are interesting. I hope this is just the first move towards a more coherent, modular set of window designs. New windows in some new sizes is something I've been wanting for years now. Who here hasn't? I remember reading that even LEGO's designers were requesting more window designs for their models. Apparently they listened, to everybody's joy. Pity that it was at the sacrifice of plane-window panes. Very nice review, Brickbitz. It gives us a good look at this set before we buy it. Price seems to be fair as well, so this set could well be a best-seller. Quote
Siegfried Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Great review Brickbitz! *wub* (And thanks to you too iamded ;-) ) Thanks also for the detail pictures of the new doors and windows. I really want this set and it's due in Australia any day now.... *sweet* Aside from just wanting the parts, I want this as the design of the main model has some great features; including stairs, the balcony... and the BBQ! :-D Quote
alex54 Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Thanks for the pics! I need this set! I want one for the main house (just few modification, and it's a perfect house for my layout), and one or two for the pieces. The new small windows look promising. I need a lot of them! But there are just two of them in it... Hope to see them in the next Factory selection... Just need to have better trees in those creator sets! But cedar trees are not necessary now that I've received two of them in my mailbox *wub* :-$ Quote
Wout Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 looks good, and it also looks like the roof window on the right is still a good old eighties roof window. barbecue on ! Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Thanks for the review. The set looks good in my opinion, I like thew new door and window pieces very much. I also like the yellow colour, it makes a change from the usual white. Quote
highlandcattle Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Me Likey! I was planning on buying vladeks fortress for 50 euros and the I saw this and thought why buy that piece of craps when I can buy this in a few week for only 30 euro! So I left that vladek where I had found it. Am I he only one who thinks that the new doors are way to big ? or look kinda crappy? Quote
Darth_Legois Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Am I he only one who thinks that the new doors are way to big ? or look kinda crappy? Yes your the only one who doesnt like the new doors....i like them *y* *wub* cant wait for this set!!!!! *wub* :'-) Quote
alex54 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Am I he only one who thinks that the new doors are way to big ? or look kinda crappy? Well, they are not that big, but yes, they look bad. I mean, they look really cheap on the pics... I will see them in real when I will buy this set. Quote
salty tbone Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 The new small windows look promising. I need a lot of them! But there are just two of them in it... Hope to see them in the next Factory selection... One of the alternative models on S@H shows six of the 2x2 windows with white frames. *sweet* Those will be the main reason I'm buying this set, which is quality all-around based on what I've seen. ExoBuilder Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I don't know if this has been asked but is the main model Mini-fig scale? If it is, this is on my priority list :-D Quote
