Deinonychus Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I think LEGO has done pretty well with the licenses really. Star Wars is full of win and a no-brainer and Indy sort of grew out of that. Batman is great even if it doesn't sell too well. Spongebob is a surprisingly good theme, a lot more clever and interesting then I ever thought it could be. Can't say there haven't been misfires. Avatar exemplifies this. The Studios versions of Jurassic Park and Spider-Man were pretty weak, as well as the stand-alone Spider-Man 2 series. Fortunately, those were all limited to just a few sets. And I personally think Harry Potter is pushing it...the steady decrease of sets for each new movie sort of helps prove my point here. Speed Racer has potential. If LEGO keeps it all about the cars and racing I don't see how they can fail. Non-licensed generic Racers sell well, no reason Speed Racer can't simply coast along with that if nothing else. Quote

Speed Racer should start in cinemas in May, and Avatar maybe wasn´t that much well known in Europe at the time TLC released the sets either.... but well, the didn´t make it to good old Europe anyways I guess.... that´s just an interesting marketing strategy.... :-P Quote
