alex54 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 After building house and houses for my new city, I decided to have a break and build something else. I bought the new Octan station, and decided to break down my Shell car wash which has become useless now (with the new Octan station). So I've got extra blue washing parts and decided to use them in a moc. And I remembered of an "old" set that TLC has made in 1999: But looking at it closely, it looks poor. So I decided to build my own verion of this set. And the result is: I'm glad because I have used a lot of big pieces, like the black posts, which take a lot of place in my lego storage boxes :-D The worker put on the washing system: The washing rollers have a water system integrated to clean the wagons: There are two big propellers to dry the cleaned but weted wagons: The washing installation can clean the biggest wagon, like the Octan wagon: And I have made my trains run at full speed to test the resistance of the installation: it's sturdy enought! *y* The full BS Gallery (after moderation) Quote
ExoBuilder Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Really nice Alex 54! It looks way better than the original set. Maybe I should make one of these.... X-D *sweet* Quote
Darth_Legois Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Nice i realy like this! its a good way to get rid of those tall posts.. *y* Quote
phoinix Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 this is very nice alex! great design! has a very modern look to it and its not smth we see that often thnx for sharing this. Quote
AzMean Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 (edited) hey alex... dats a very beautifully done MOC. thinking of doing the same thing too. any instructions to share? :) anyway, does the "washing thingy" at the side move back into position after the train has gone through? zeki Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Great piece of art! I love it. A must have for a train city! Quote
Holodoc Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Nice work! *wub* *y* I like the black color (less white and no green :-X baseplate), the traffic lights and the third brush at the top. Can I order one for my new Santa Fe? X-D Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Wow, if TLC made that I would buy one in an instance! I think the brushes are positioned just right, being able to slide back and forth (I think) I like the little control panel too, it is a nice touch. *y* Quote
Brick Miner Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 the color scheme is what really works !!! and this does have a very "system" feel, i bet it blends in nicely with your city. glad to see the digital background too. adding the dirt buffer zone between the skyline and the gravel works well... the only thing that stands out a little is the drastic lighting on the MOC... especially towards the back of the station. i know taking photos that are suitable for digital editing is difficult, and overall the presentation is excellent. thanks for sharing, alex. id always like to see more from you ;-) - BM Quote
Freddie Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 That is indeed a very nice washing station. IMO its leagues better compared to what TLC released some years ago. It wouldn't look out of place in a train yard, that's for sure. Great work. *y* Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Yes I'd buy one of these if it was available + if I had the money :'-) . Nice Job *y* *y* Quote
marvinblue Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Even though I'm not a train fan, this model looks quite nice! *sweet* Well done!! I'm sure plenty of train fans would love this!! Quote
alex54 Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 any instructions to share? :)anyway, does the "washing thingy" at the side move back into position after the train has gone through? No instruction to share. But it's not a difficult MOC to build. Just look the pics carefully and you can build your own train wash. And the "washing thingy" move back into their initial position after the train has gone throught. It's due to the roof slope pieces. Can I order one for my new Santa Fe? X-D Yes, it's only 1000$ :-D and without the shipping cost, of course! And thanks for all the feedbacks, which are always welcome! glad to see the digital background too. adding the dirt buffer zone between the skyline and the gravel works well... the only thing that stands out a little is the drastic lighting on the MOC... especially towards the back of the station. i know taking photos that are suitable for digital editing is difficult, and overall the presentation is excellent. Well, it's hard to have some good sunlights (the sun is playing with the clouds for months, or it's out during the working hours... *wacko* ). The digital background has some bad points that I will try to put out (if I have the time...), like the wite under the brushes... Quote
Optikal Illushun Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 i like this, i never seen a real train wash but this looks excellent. i like the pics and background...almost like its from the Lego calalog. Quote
Batbrick Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I can't believe I haven't commented on this yet! Sorry Alex54! :-$ Anyway, this is a beautiful moc, and much better than the actual released version you gave a pic of. I love the little control "room", and making the side wipers on wagons is neat too *y* My favourite touches are the fans at the end though. Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
zouave Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 That looks good enough to be a Lego set. It really does. It got a good, simple, yet reallistic looking design. It has a minifig. And it would encourage kids to buy train sets. Btw I didn't know trains got washed, I just thought they put graffiti over the dirt. :-D Quote
Brickadier General Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I own that set, and I actually like your take on it a lot more than the original. The background art is pretty spiffy too. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Very nice! I have to agree, so much nicer than the official LEGO one released years ago. I'm gonna have a go at building my own at some point, seems so simple to make. Nice one! :-) Quote
SirNadroj Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Very nice! Much better than the original! *y* I must say that I love that first edited pic of your MOC! *y* Quote
