kjm161 Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 "When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake, Spooks come out for a swinging wake! Happy haunts materialize, and begin to vocalize. Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize!" I created this graveyard scene to go along with my Haunted Mansion. It includes many of the ghosts that can be seen near the end of the ride in the Swinging Wake scene. There are two sections, one of which also includes the Pet Cemetery. I changed the iron-work on the Mansion to black from the original white (the white tends to look better in photos but in person the black looks more like the iron grill work found on the Mansion. Covi Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) Haha, so nice! I love the ghost on the bike! Edited April 21, 2016 by Covi Quote
Karalora Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 "Aaaaahhhhh, there you are! And just in time too! There's a little matter I forgot to mention...BEWARE OF HITCHHIKING GHOSTS!" I love you for this. The Haunted Mansion is one of the all-time great Disney rides, in no small part because of its cast of memorably quirky ghosts, and you recreated them very well given the limited tools available. xboxtravis7992 Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 The toad on a pedestal in the pet graveyard (although technically speaking the Disneyland mansion doesn't have one, just the Disney World one; but still, it is great attention to detail!) Quote
kjm161 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Thanks for the comments! I had a lot of fun collecting enough glow in the dark and white heads for the ghosts. There are not a lot of different ones available to make all the ghosts unique (particularly glow in the dark). From what I gleaned on the web I think there actually is a frog in the pet cemetery at Disneyland. It is Old Flybait and not Mr. Toad (which is only at WDW). I have only been to WDW and am luckily going to Disneyland for the first time this summer so will have to check it out in person. Screen Shot 2016-04-21 at 8.34.04 PM by Karen Metz, on Flickr Quote
Karalora Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Yes, Old Flybait is from Disneyland's pet cemetery. But the sailor's tomb is from Orlando, so your MOC is still a mix of the two. With the WDW castle in the works, I am reeeeaaaaaallly hoping we get more sets based on the theme parks! Quote
kjm161 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 So glad you recognized Captain Culpepper Clyde's crypt. I had to sneak it in there even though it is only in WDW. More sets based on the theme parks would be great, especially with the minifigs coming out. Quote
Brickity Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Oh my God this is amazing! I've never beent to Disneyland but I love the movie and the game. The characters are super! Quote
Karalora Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 So glad you recognized Captain Culpepper Clyde's crypt. That's the name. I couldn't remember it off the top of my head and didn't feel like looking it up. Quote
kjm161 Posted May 8, 2016 Author Posted May 8, 2016 Here is the Swinging Wake beside an altered Haunted Mansion. I made the front columns more substantial and changed the interior dining scene, losing the kitchen and expanding the table. I think the larger columns are more in keeping with the Disney mansion but the smaller columns are more elegant. I changed the windows which add more light and hope that it doesn't appear too crowded in the interior. Hard to fit in all of the iconic ghosts and scenes, which make the ride so special. Any comments are appreciated. image1 (1) by Karen Metz, on Flickr image1 (2) by Karen Metz, on Flickr Quote
