Hinckley Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I posted a thread asking about this moving a couple days ago, a thread which seems to have dissapeared completely.Personally I think this is a horrible idea. The YOC forum was my favourite one. It was like a mini brickshelf where you go and get a random assortment of fellow Eurobrickers creative urges. I haven't got time to trawl through 13 different forums, sifting through all the other boring lego talk just to find some cool creations and ideas and inspiration. I don't need to read a review of a set that I pobably already own, and reading all the long winded Lego Theory threads puts me to sleep. The Yoc forum was like a multicultural lego area where all themes were welcome and you could access a bit of variety. Now there's a segregated community with no randomness at all. I like random. Not happy Eurobricks. We wouldn't just completely delete a thread. Right now the YOC forum is supressed while we move the threads out, so that no one will post new threads there or see a forum that consists of all moved topics. Your thread will be moved to the appropriate forum.I'm not sure if you've read this whole thread or if we've mentioned it, but there are several staff members working diligently to index all of the MOCs to make them easier to find in the theme forums. These indices will work just like the ones in the Pirates forum where you can see a thumbnail of all existing MOCs and decide from there which one you would like to see or comment on. I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy, but please show some patience while we make the changes. Our hope is to have better organization for old and new members. Thanks. :-) Quote

I have many interests other than lego where I visit plenty of forums in the search for information, and I've found that the best and easiest forum's are the ones with the least moderation and the simplest layouts. Siegfried Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I understand that, but wasn't the Yoc forum just an index of MOC threads where no-one had to do any work? I have many interests other than lego where I visit plenty of forums in the search for information, and I've found that the best and easiest forum's are the ones with the least moderation and the simplest layouts. Well I see your point... but while a simple layout is great if you want to just randomly browse, it makes it hard if you want to browse set themes. It makes it even harder for people posting; should they post where it is logical, or should they post were some people go to browse.... Ultmately I think the changes are pleasing people who want clarity, and annoying those that prefered the randomness. :-/ You can't please everyone with change, and sorry to say it seems you are one of the annoyed ones. Aside from reversing the changes, do you have any ideas of how to make things more to your liking? Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Is there any link to access the YOC page? I want to browse old entries but I cant find the link to the main YOC page. Quote
Siegfried Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Is there any link to access the YOC page?I want to browse old entries but I cant find the link to the main YOC page. I believe it has been hidden while the re-sort is underway. Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 19, 2007 Author Posted December 19, 2007 Is there any link to access the YOC page?I want to browse old entries but I cant find the link to the main YOC page. Yes, it was restricted while we move things. This was mainly done because while we asked people not to post new MOCs in the YOC forum, you kept posting, even after they were moved :-| Quote
Wouwie Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Where did all the sticky's gone? Like Hinckley one about taking good pic's and stuff like that? Quote
Hinckley Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Where did all the sticky's gone? Like Hinckley one about taking good pic's and stuff like that? My photography thread is in the LEGO news and General Discussions Forum :-) Quote
Batbrick Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Well I'm starting to like this new format, and it seems the admins have done an excellent job with moving all this stuff to where it needs to go. I was just wondering (this may have been answered), with the YOC forum suppressed, are the topics still being moved out of it? I wonder this because I like to go through my old threads, or other's, to get ideas or techniques, but some I can't find, not even with the search option. Are they just "out of reach" temporarily? Anyway, thanks goes out to those who worked hard to make the changes to this forum, you've all done a really good job *y* Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote

This was mainly done because while we asked people not to post new MOCs in the YOC forum, you kept posting, even after they were moved :-| Wait, so you just made it not possible to view for everybody? Couldn't you lock the forum and still allow people to view the threads currently in there? Quote
Brickmaster Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Frankly I dont like this system as much as if I want to see any new mocs, I would have to check every single forum or subforum, rather than just the one stop shop :'-( Which also means less people looking at your mocs. Ah well, if others like it this way, looks like majority vote wins, I can't complain, especially with the work put in. Quote

Thanks. :-) Quote
Brickmaster Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I do realize it may only be clicking :-$ But you know human nature, something easy made harder, no matter how much harder = complaining :-D Heh. Sorries :-P Quote

Seriously, our hope is that it'll be easier to see MOCs than it was before... Quote
Brickmaster Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Sorry for jumping to conclusions, I shoulda known it was still a work in progress :-$ Great work so far though, im sure it will be better now, with how you mods are here *wub* Quote
Hinckley Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Sorry for jumping to conclusions, I shoulda known it was still a work in progress :-$True! It is only as difficult as reading the topic you are posting in. :-| Great work so far though, im sure it will be better now, with how you mods are here *wub*Thank you. I hope it'll be ten times more organized soon. Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 Wait, so you just made it not possible to view for everybody? Couldn't you lock the forum and still allow people to view the threads currently in there? I did lock it, someone else made it impossible to view :-P I'm not entirely sure why, though... Quote

VBBN Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I understand the YOC closed, but what happened to the topic "What are your Projects?" Was it deleted or moved? Thanks! Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 It isn't moved yet. I doubt that the admins will delete it. ;-) Quote
