chiefsalami Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Hello all, first-time post on here. I really hope this is no a duplicate post, because I could not find anything through the search. I am building digital Technic models on LDD, and have read that SR 3D Builder is much better for the meshing and bending of parts such as gears and soft axles. I know that tool has not been updated in quite some time, but I cannot get it to run on any machine or operating system, real or virtual. I've tried everything from XP to Windows 10. It installs successfully, but when I try to run it, it crashes with an "unhandled exception", apparently related to the .net framework. Can anyone help me to get this application running? Or the best option would be to link me to a portable executable version of the latest SR3DB. Thank you! Quote
zux Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I can advise you to use LDCad instead of SR3D Builder (which is sadly not going to be developed anymore ). LDCad uses same LDraw part library and is actively developed with issues being fixed. Quote

But I still want to get it running. I know that some of us have it running and I hope that they can give us some pointers/tips. TIA //swegoof Quote
Tomik Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I still use SR 3D Builder. I found out latest versions having too many bugs so I came back to version from LDraw all in one installer 02-2013. It works fine although ït is missing latest parts. I've solved this issue by adding missing parts in MLCad. If anyone is interested I can share this installer with further instructions how to run it. barnylego Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Hi Tomic-- I still prefer SR3D as its easy to use, easy animation and the ability ,on a 2 monitor system,to have the parts on one screen and the project on the other.-- I would really appreciate a share of your installer.-thanks Quote

It's LDraw all in one installer so I recommend you to install just SR 3D Builder and minimum required programs and libraries. Then you can install latest LDraw library in different directory to get access to latest parts. They will not appear in SR 3D Builder but you will be able to add them manualy in model file and see them in LDView. Quote

After adding parts, did you do the 'database refresh' (or whatever it's called, can't remember) from the toolbar? Quote
