_Ben_ Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Hello! I lived for Lego when I was a kid - bought (and was given) loads of sets, which I duly built and then dismantled to make my own creations. Then I 'grew out of it'. My younger brother was just like me as a kid, but kept his hobby going as an adult. It was my birthday last week and he bought me the Big Ben Architecture set... and that rekindled the flame, for me! I have the AROCS set on order and I have been Googling (and lurking here) looking for inspiration. I'll post photos of my build, and the finished model, when it eventually arrives in the post. :) Ben Quote
Captain Britain Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Welcome Ben! Nice set! Look forward to seeing pictures posted. I stick to the Superhero stuff mainly but like to take a peak at the Technic stuff as it always looks impressive!! Quote
_Ben_ Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Thanks Captain! Yeh, I'm an Engineer so I kind of gravitate to the Technic models. Although I used to love building spaceships with retractable landing gear etc when I was a kid. I wish I'd documented everything with photos. Quote
ItsaGoodyear Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Ben, Welcome to Eurobricks! Check out Bricklink for deals man! Usually its a bit cheaper then going to other places like Lego.com But hey its great to get back into the hobby. I myself got my hobby at a young age of collecting Lego tires and here I am X3 So hope you find your inspiration and move forward ^-^ Quote
_Ben_ Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Thank you for the heads up for Bricklink. I got a good deal on the AROCS; a German department store having a sale AND offering a discount code! I think this could be a new beginning... Quote

Took me some getting used to at first but since then I've purchased quite a few bits from there. Sounds like you done alright on the AROCS! Now you've started you won't be able to stop . Mine all started with a Captain America minifigure 3 or 4 years ago, now I think I'm fully up to date on all of the Super Hero line (minus the elusive Comic Con specials those things are rarer than rocking horse megablocks).. Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Welcome to Eurobricks! "spaceships with retractable landing gear" - that would be something, don't hesitate to rediscover your old builds! Quote
_Ben_ Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 The retractable landing gear probably looked more impressive to me as a kid, to be honest! I am going to look at modding the AROCS to make it right hand drive (easier for overtaking on UK roads!)... Quote
