greetings, as my first post i would like to discuss the issue of many different dates found on sites and forums concerning when 2008 sets will be released.

here is a link to brickshelf of the 2008 catalogue and release dates: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2756654

and here is a link to wikipedia, offering a translation of Czech months to english for month releases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_months

please discuss, and when people think we can start seeing sets appear in stores across europe.

peace and if this was posted before then i appologize

The sets doesn't appear at same time on every countries. Some themes appears first on some countries and after on another's, and vice-versa. For example, the yellow creator house in Portugal only will appear on March, with some Indiana sets.

There are some themes even don't appear on some countries. For example, the Impulse series will be an exclusive in Portugal and don't appear on retail catalogs.

This always happens, but seems that 2008 will be more pronounced.

Let's face it, the US will get things first as usual as a result of Lego coping with more serious Megablocks competition there. This is proved by the fact that the Castle line 7036 Dwarves Mine set has been available for a few months now and the recently surfaced first batch of Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase sets.

Indiana Jones is - according to Lego.com - due for January (see site countdown: "the Legend goes Lego in January 2008"). I do not know if the stores are being stocked up but at least 1 or more sets will be available through Lego.com. If these new sets sell quite well, prepare for another backorder status and things might slow down a bit.

Actually, that's no proof. Last year Europe got several sets before they were available in the US-all of the City sets for example, the new trucks, the harbor, the train station. I will definitely say that some of the promotions they run in the States and not in Europe are completely unfair-Golden C3PO & Brickmaster Exclusives to name two-but to say that the US will get things first as usual is false.

As far as I know, 2008 Star Wars sets are starting to pop up in Europe and have not yet been seen in the states...

EDIT: Ooops! :-$ Looks like there are several AT-APs showing up on eBay from the States, as a matter of fact, from my neck of the woods. Excuse me while I run to TRU. It's still not true that US gets all sets first. :-P Later. X-D

Yeah, I don't know that we can make ANY definitive claims about what country gets what sets first. Trying to make sense of TLC's distribution pattern is a fool's errand. There simply is no rhyme or reason to it. Or if there IS, it's so bizarre and abstract as to be meaningless to us mere mortals.

I'm convinced they just throw darts at a big map of the world. "And the first country to get the new Star Wars sets will be .... (throws dart) ... Pacific Ocean!!"

i'm pretty sure the shipping depends on the store. if the store ordered 08 sets early, they would receive them early. but they probably have instructions not to sell them until jan. of course with any toy stores, there are going to be rogue employees who fail to heed instructions or just plainly fail to read. :-P look at the best example: TRU. at the east coast (NJ,NY) none of them have the indy set. however in chicago they were putting out the small motocycles set already. why is that? :-P rogue employees! :-P

Oh no... Must...brace...for...disapointment...with...AT-AP... On the other hand, I eagerly await Sinner running Hinckley over in the comic. X-D

Hmm, maybe it landed on an oil rig. Imagine it...

*two weeks later- an oil rig operator steps out of his bedroom, rubbing his eyes. "What the-? How in megablocks did these get here?"*
