kibosh Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) I recently bought a Large LEGO Lot (LLL), and I plan to chronicle my endeavors here. Usually when I buy a LLL, the bricks just get assimilated into the collective. This LLL was different. It had a number of partially assembled sets that were easily identified including a number of Star Wars sets. And a Monster Fighters Haunted House. 4/10/16 Update Here's the second batch of sets I am reassembling. 21115 The First Night - Minecraft. 90% complete. I know I saw the figures as I was going through things, but don't have them with the set. Also missing some jumper plates and bright green bricks. 21113 - The Cave - Minecraft. 90% complete. Same story as above. 21117 The Ender Dragon - Minecraft. 30% complete. Sadly, I don't remember seeing any of the printed dragon pieces. 75003 A-wing. 95% complete. Missing some pieces for the flick missiles. And I know I saw Han and Admiral Ackbar. Just need to find them again. :-/ 4/4/16 Update Here's a couple picture from the ad for the second half of the LLL I bought. Sadly, I don't have pictures of the first batch before I sorted them. Here are some of the sets I managed to build so far. 75021 - Republic Gunship. I have since Padme's hair since taking the picture. Only missing the stickers. 7778 - Midi-scale Millenium Falcon. Missing the radar dish, but I have not looked very hard for it. I am confident it will be found! 3180 - Octan Tank Truck. Missing the fuel pump, but again, have not looked real hard for it. 75004 - Z-95 Headhunter. 100% complete! Edited April 10, 2016 by kibosh Quote
kibosh Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Easier said than done. Sadly, the original owner had opened both #1 bags, and built them. Those parts are hidden among almost 40 lbs of loose bricks. On the positive side, all the other bags are sealed. The Star Wars sets are mostly built, and were separated better. I plan to start with those and hopefully those builds will deplete the pile of random stuff a bit. Quote
kibosh Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Absolutely. I think first up is the latest incarnation of the Republic Gunship. Quote
Nagol of Fortfield Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Absolutely. I think first up is the latest incarnation of the Republic Gunship. This sound really fun! keep it up :) Quote
kibosh Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 Halfway through the Gunship build! Only missing Padme's hair at this point. Quote
kibosh Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Major update in first post! I did a lot of building and organizing this weekend! Any idea what set this model may have come from? Quote
kibosh Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Ah! Yes. You are correct! There is a lot of TMNT stuff in there. Quote
GovBroadsword Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Love the tanker. Even if it is Octan ;) Quote
kibosh Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Yeah, the tanker was a nice find and will make a fine addition to my city display. Quote
kibosh Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Added four more in process builds to the original post. One Star Wars set, and three Minecraft sets. Quote
whaplodedave Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Suppose it takes a while to sort it all out but if you got it for a reasonable price then it will be worth it Quote
kibosh Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 It was almost worth it for the Haunted House alone. My goal is to sell off enough stuff to recoup half the cost. I got it for around $5/pound. Quote
Junior Shark Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Yo this LLL is really solid. *Goes to check Craigslist* Keep us posted! Quote
biglesdug Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Nice lot, I enjoy the mystery of figuring out what is in large lots. Specially large lots for random figs. Quote
Modelmaker Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) I love LLL's on my 4th one right now, great way to fill in the dark ages,my fave is when you bricklink a piece to I.D. it and it only appears in 1 set so no guess work left. And i've just bought another one on the net but spotted a pencil sharpner in the mix, it will be my 4th lot with some kind of blade in it a box cutter blade was the worst so far. thats 4 outof 5 lots What with kids these days? Yes, specialty pieces or unique minifigs help to identify what you have. I find all sorts of garbage in LLL's I have purchased. Nerf darts, key chains, marbles, etc. If it's plastic, it gets tossed into the bin I guess. Quote
Modelmaker Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 AH yes! the nerf dart i can supply a nerf army at this stage and modify the dart tips with all the marbles and dead batteries Quote
kibosh Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 Sorry for the lack of updates. I decided to do some sorting of the loose bricks to hopefully speed the reassembling process. I'm sorting pieces by color so I have smaller piles to go through. I also separated out all the printed pieces, or pieces with stickers. All technic pieces. and all smaller pieces; 1x1s, 1x2s, etc. Quote
kibosh Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 Hi guys. I found these three chunks of models in my LLL. I'm not sure if they are from official models, or if they were just things the previous owner had built. My gut tells me they are official builds. Any idea what they may be from? Do they look familiar at all? Quote
Actor Builder Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 The one on the bottom is from a Marvel set with a little green speedboat and some Iron Men. Googled it, it's called "Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle". I have no idea what that means, but there you are. Quote
