Not sure if this is the right place for this (Sorry Nemo!) but I nearly finished changing up the parts for Crossbones from the new CW set and all that's left is the legs. After trying a few things, I've decided the above mentioned Electro poly legs look pretty darn good. I bought 2 of em from TRU awhile back, one open one to save, and I'd like to cannibalize the 2nd one. After looking on bricklink it seems a sealed bag can from $5 to $75 so is it worth it save or open?

And this could go for any "exclusive" frankly, I still have a sealed GOTG Rocket bag in a drawer somewhere, so what is the resale value here if any? Should you or do you hold onto your polybags like they are the One Ring?

Polybags can vary across the board. Generally, pricing can depend on how one gets the polybag (get with purchase, buy off the shelf), how rare or sought after the character is, and how limited a release it sees.

For example, Star Wars Darth Revan is a highly sought after polybag, because it was one offered by the Lego store (which is limited to some collectors) and only available with purchase of a specific amount. This means some collectors missed it by not having access to a Lego store or choose not to spend the requisite amount.

Polybags that you can buy direct in stores tend to be much more common and less valuable. Marvel GotG Rocket was widely available at TRU for $4 and was based on a character already appearing in a set. This has made the polybag Rocket worth less than the Rocket appearing in the set.

For me, if it's a polybag I really want, I try to get two. One for sealed and one for open. This was true with 2012 Hulk, 2013 Han and Clone, and 2014 Revan. For your specific example, I would open Electro - he's not that valuable right now and his price is not likely to increase.

I do not really care for the value, as I am not looking to sell my collection (well i hope it stays that way ;-) ).

But I do keep some polys sealed, Electro is one of them, when I do not have the space or do not want to display the figure. He's not the best out there I have to say.

And I doubt his price will go through the roof at any time in the future.

If you concern yourself with the resale value of sets, you can find yourself paralyzed, unable to open and build anything, for fear of ruining some perceived market value. To each his or her own, of course, but I personally would much rather just enjoy my LEGO as LEGO, and not bother with the market value unless circumstances compel me to do so. Besides, if a set or part is truly that valuable, it will likely retain at least some of that value even after being opened and used.

Just my personal opinion, of course.
