Axle Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Would you buy a pirate copied Lego Pirate ship? If you couldn't get the sets anywhere else? I saw in the newsagent near my house they had a ship. It was 26.00 euros. Would you get it or pass? Here is what the ship was: Link to eBay auction Edit Bonaparte: Moved to the Pirate forum and added pictures in post. Quote
Shadows Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 If I wanted fake LEGO, I'd be on a fake LEGO forum, not here. Fake LEGO Off! *n* Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 If I wanted fake LEGO, I'd be on a fake LEGO forum, not here.Fake LEGO Off! *n* Youve said it all IS! I would never buy fake lego, i'd rather other bricks here and there, download some instructions and put the set together myself if it was a hard to find one... Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 They've copied that quite well. Those little alternatives look quite good. Just look a this! (pic is link) Nice big ship, string riggings. (wub) Now if it only were real LEGO!! The collect them all idea is great, I wish LEGO would've figured that.. I once bought a knock off set, and I highly regret it! So fake LEGO is a reaaal nono for me.. Real LEGO on!! Fake LEGO OFF!!! Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I once obtained a small box of fake Pirate Lego on a 'kermis' ('fair'? something with a giant ferris wheel, ponies for the kids, a merry-go-round, etc). It was called Shifty. In my view, they can replace the F with another T. Quote
Axle Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 I've heard of shif(t)y before on brickshelf. Yes, maybe I shouldn't get it. I'll stick to real good qualtiy plastic! *y* Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 18, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 18, 2007 I've moved this one from Community to the Pirate forum. Also added some picture in the first post because eBay actions don't stay online forever. I'll probably merge this one in the future with this thread: Fake Lego pirates:general discussion. This ship certainly looks good. But since it isn't from Lego I won't buy something like this. Quote
Wouwie Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 If it's fake it isn't Lego, and dont find with the rest of my collection.....altough i have bought a fake set in Spain.......i was young... Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I would consider using those chrome cutlasses...... *wub* Quote
Axle Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 yeh, fake sets always appear to have shiny, unique weapons. I saw a different one with a chrome flintlock pistol! Quote
Col. Whipstick Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Now now... glittering cutlasses be damned! It's fake lego... *spits on the ground after saying these words* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 18, 2007 Governor Posted November 18, 2007 Funny you mention this... Assamite was at a market the other day and he came across a couple of sets by that Brick company. Since the sets are almost direct knock offs of official LEGO sets I shall do a comparison review. Quote
Axle Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Ooh! are the bricks able to fit together, mr Phes? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 18, 2007 Governor Posted November 18, 2007 I guess we'll find out later when I build one of them. Stay tuned! Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I don't mind good copied legos, but only if it really is great looking and not cheap rip-offs. any good addition is welcomed in my collection, but only if it really adds something to the hobby. Quote
Wout Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I shall not buy copied lego, but the brown pirate hat which is in official lego only made in red, blue, green and Black looks nice. So when Lego mades a new pirate line (I hope as soon as posseble) they may also made browm pirate hats for me. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 IF I did bid on it, IF I did get it, it would only be for the cutlasses. *wub* Quote
SlyOwl Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Would I buy it? Hmm...I dislike own-brand pieces in other shapes and colours and so no, I wouldn't. However, were the bricks to have Lego stamped on the top and be identical in every way, just much cheaper, I would. In different colours? Yes and no - only as near to official colours as theyt come. So I would buy small, complete rip-offs, where they don't even pretend the brick is their own - Megablox has their logo between the "studs" (more like blobs though) and TLC puts it on top (at least at the moment - who knows when they'll remove it to save on plastic? I.E. A Lego set in a different box! 8-| Quote

Hello everyone I do not like you trashing this since it is actually a Good set but I got the BSB kind one Here It fits together perfectly and has perfect Tricornes and Perfect Cutlasses and well Perfect boat. Also I do not like to buy a Used set from someone in another country with no box when you can get a perfectly good set for less money and I know many of you say "But if you want lego get the real thing" THIS IS THE SAME Quote
simonwillems Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 It is not the physical appearance that stops me from buying things like this (I haven't yet, don't worry) but the fact that is not Lego. I am a Lego collector, I collect Lego, not just pirate related toys. This pirateship surely is a lot of fun if you are looking for a pirateship out of constructable pieces, so Joey Lock it's great to read you having a good time with it. :-) Quote

But I would never buy Fakes for other themes since they only make pirate stuff. But also since they do a variety of set copies you could be saving over Edited November 19, 2007 by Joey Lock Quote
woody64 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 May I put your attention to this fake shakoo: I have to admit if I could solve my shakoo problem with this I wouldn't mind. (Shame on me ...) Andreas Quote
zouave Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I would never buy this set. To me it shows that buying this is like saying you can be bought with shiny weapons and and a cheap price. It just doesn't seem right. |-/ Quote
