I didn't pick up a copy of Medieval Village when it came out. I kept looking at it in the store but I was addicted to Star Wars and City sets at the time. Recently though I just built my own copy of it. It took a few months to get all the parts and I even managed to secure the sticker sheet and instruction manuals. It is good to finally own it. It's one of those iconic sets. I would recommend either buying one in box if affordable or 'bricklinking' the parts to make your own. I only did two substitutions, the cow horns and the horse. The new horses are better than the old ones anyway.

Of course the MMV is worth it! I would pay $250 for it if that's what they were selling it for. The level of detail and how it nicely integrates into a regular Castle layout (Unlike many D2C sets) really makes it different.

Definitely a top three all-time Castle set and, in my opinion, a top ten Lego set overall.

I bought the set for my friend. Before that i was not convinced with it, but when i had the set in my hand i really like it. Has many stuffs and sections...

So if you are hesitatnt, then you dont have to be and grab it.

I managed to get one locally for around 220 dollars. The lack of numbered bags made assembly a bit harder for me. The end product felt a bit lacking, but the assortment of parts and the uniqueness of the set more than made up for it. I would have actually gotten two if I had spare cash at the time. XD Might sell off the minifigures to fund more set acquisitions. :))

Haha - you've all definitely convinced me -- MMV is now very high on my list of sets to acquire as soon as funds allow!

kyreii, I'm definitely one for judicious selling-off of minifigs in order to buy more bricks. It's one way to comfort myself about expensive sets; if I can make £30-£40 on the minifigs (very possible with some of the minifig-heavy licensed sets) then I can pretend the set was cheaper than it actually was!

@LudeBene - I've bought three hobbit holes and have sold the minifigs from two of those sets (keeping a set for play of course!). Still stocking up on bricks for a Hobbiton MOC. Might have to take apart a bike shop and look for additional green bricks before I start. :D

I just picked up sealed MMV and a MVR. built the MVR, now just sorting out the MMV. It is a happy day :)

Oh yeah, it was one of the last great sets pre-numbered bags. Where you had to sort it all. But so worth it.

The lack of numbered bags is one thing that makes the Medieval Market Village an even better classic!  I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great LEGO original.  The MMV is both an excellent build and an excellent parts pack for freebuilding!
