Hi folks, This is my first post on the town forum. I'm generally a Technic guy.

I think the new speed champion sets are awesome. However,

My personal opinion is that they are too narrow. I saw this nice MOD, and decided to have a go too.

Not only did I widen the car to 8 studs, but I also moved the top back by a stud. I also had to lower the floor inside to get the mini figure in and put some exhaust pipes on the back.

I might be in a minority round these parts, But I'm not a fan of stickers, so I left them off.

Yeah. The 4-wide windshields are much better.

Very nice, it's a good idea to set back the windscreen. Looks much more like the original. Plus it's great you omitted the stickers. To mimic a rear window you may use some black 4x1 or 4x2 curved slopes.

I see no problem with the windshield here btw. It quite meets the original, better than any other windscreen at this scale.

Speaking of which: By widening the SC cars to 8w we of course get much better proportions. On the other hand it's quite difficult to combine large cars like this with other City stuff which has a much smaller scale.
