Brickmaster Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) Just posted the dude my mech is based on *y* (Edited my entry picture post) Edited November 28, 2007 by Brickmaster
SupremeCommmanderGrievous Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I have a mech I would like to enter, but it does not resemble anyone's sig-fig that I know of. (Unless anyone has Boba Fett as their sig-fig, I built this mech for a Star Wars stop-motion movie I am working on) Is this okay, or do I need to build a new mech specifically for someone's sig-fig?
zero1312 Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) Well, if you're doing a mech based on someone elses sig-fig, you have to get the permission from that member. Or build a new one based on your sig-fig. (having four arms and an insectoid look ;-) ) EDIT: How should the sections be named? :-/ Help me on this, please! :'-) Edited November 29, 2007 by zero1312
Brickmaster Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 "Best Resemblance " (to the sigfig.) and "Best Overall Mech" Hm? ;-)
zero1312 Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 "Best Resemblance " (to the sigfig.)and "Best Overall Mech" Hm? ;-) Good idea!!! *y* I'll include those when I'll start the voting poll. ;-)
iamded Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Or when you get an admin to start the voting. ;-) I need to start building my mech! 8-| ~Peace
Hinckley Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Or when you get an admin to start the voting. ;-) I need to start building my mech! 8-| ~Peace He's a Knight, he can start the voting himself. So could you...

Batbrick Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Okay, heres my little mech comic: (After finaly killing off the Necrobots once and for all, Batbrick and iamded shake hands on a job well done!) *sweet* iamded: Good job Batbrick, nice to know we aren't archenemies anymore! Batbrick: "Yeah, about that......" (Batbrick boots iamded off the cupboard cliff down into his newly aquired Ofnir Dragon! X-O ) Batbrick:"Gotcha! Muhaha! Seeya iamded old pal! TTFN! I Am Fear Incarnate! To the Brickmobile! Batbrick Away! Haha!" iamded: "You Traitor! Arrrgghh I squeal like a girl!" (But it seems the Dragon was sick of Batbrick's poor medical benifits and proceeded to be goaded by iamded into helping him in exchange for better working privilidges) iamded: "Good Dragon, wanna kill my archenemy now?" Dragon: "RRAAAAGGHRGB!" iamded: "I'll take that as a yes" iamded squares off against Batbrick in a battle to the death, who will prevail? You decide! Hope you liked my mech! To the Brickmobile! >:-)

You may wanna check with him. Well i enter my entry X-D Hopefully it followed all the rules and specifications. 8-| Let me know if it doesn't. P Edited December 1, 2007 by phred
Batbrick Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I've just seen your mech, Batbrick. Awesome design *y* , but the torso shoouldn't be THAT out of propotion. X-D __________ Yes but when it all comes down to it I would rather throw continuity out of the window and be able to crush yours and everyone else's mechs! :-P But thanks for the compliment, I'm really happy with it, and for my first mech I think I did a good job *sweet* To the Brickmobile! >:-)
SupremeCommmanderGrievous Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Are the mechs only allowed to have two legs or can we build more?
Benk Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Took me a while to get round to it but I have completed and posted my mech :-) -Benk
Hinckley Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 "Best Resemblance " (to the sigfig.)and "Best Overall Mech" Hm? ;-) IMO, different categories confuse things. This was a contest to base a mech off of a member's sig-fig. I don't think any mechs should be entered that don't adhere to that guideline in the rules. As far as different categories go, I don't think it's necessary if all the entries adhere to the rules. That's my opinion though, and Zero can run his contest how he wants...Also, if anyone wants to discuss Benk's entry, please do so in this thread that he started for his mech in the YOC forum. Thanks. Just trying to keep things organized. :-$
zero1312 Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 Are the mechs only allowed to have two legs or can we build more? It can have as much legs as you want, as long as it resembles your sig-fig. ;-)
MicVash Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 It can have as much legs as you want, as long as it resembles your sig-fig. ;-) I believe "resembles" can be broadly interprated. For instance a mech could "resemble" a sigfig not merely by physicaly appearance, but by certain technical aspects of the mech's design. For instance, if your sigfig is really athletic with quick agility and a fast runner... (which people could know if you just post a topic about your sigfig's background. I've all ready established some of MicVash's traits through my Trials of Survival Episodes.) ...then the Mech could have wings or jump jets or four legs instead of two, just anything that could represent the trait of the sigfig. I've seen this in another mech. For instance, if you're really a pirates fan then your mech could have those specific traits in the mech's design, like using treasure chests and barrels in the mechanics. Again, the mech still "resembles" your sigfig, because it is not just reflecting the sigfig's physical raw appearance but it's personality and attributes as well. Just my two cents.
LuxorV Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 When this contest started, I got it it was based on the mech's resemblance to the sigfig. I got it that way because it seemed to have been inspired to my ( *wub* - self pride) Hinckley Special, an Exo-Force styled version of Hinckley's sigfig with few details that (as MicVash says) explained his character (as I see it, at least :-$ ). So, I built an Exo-Force styled version of Shakar's sigfig, with details such as the magic staff, black color scheme and the black katana. Then I saw some mecha entering the contest that do not even have the sigfigs' colors or that are based on built-on-purpose versions of the sigfigs. Still, I guess they're ok, as long as Zero says so. Now, my question is: will we (all EB members) have to judge the resemblance between the mecha and the sigfigs they're based on, or has it become a contest of sheer mech-building skills 8-| ? Mind you, I'm not saying there are any illegal entries. I like them all *y* I just got a bit confused about how this contest is getting along 8-| . Bye ;-) LuxorV

Although categories can be confusing, I'd say it should be used in this one, so that all mechs can be in both categories. That way a better mech with little resemblance would go good in the best overall mech category but not as good in the resemblance category, and then its fair :-) To the Brickmobile! - Clearly as the batmobile has morphed into the brickmobile! >:-)

SupremeCommmanderGrievous Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I just looked at all the new entries. I am so going to lose. Mine is about halfway finshed. It will be my first EB contest entry. I also agree with splitting the contest into catagories. That seems more fair to me, considering my mech does not resemble the sig-fig I am using as well as some of the other entries resemble their sig-figs.

I don't think I'll win either, but I'm entering for the fun of it anyway. While it'd be nice to win, sure, I think the fun in these contests is the building challenge. I'm not really a mech builder, but I like them.I'm glad this contest was held because I didn't realize how many talented mech builders we had here in the forum! *sweet* Nice job, Zero! X-D *y*

There are plenty of skilled mech builders out there on Eb, I'm just not one of them, I just like mechs! *sweet*
