Didumos69 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Hi, I'm looking for a way to disassemble a large shock absorber, without causing any damage. I want to place a soft spring on a yellow/black shock absorber, which is originally equiped with a hard spring. Has anybody experience with this? Any help is very much appreciated. doug72 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 It can be done but very awkward. The black part has a forked end with two lugs that stop it coming apart. Disassembled one today by using two toolmakers flat screwdrivers with a blade width of 1mm. You need to compress the two lugs at the same time in order for it to slide out of the yellow tube - the spring helps. Best if you can clamp unit in a vice - otherwise you need three hands !! Quote
Saberwing40k Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Brickshelf user Netbulli made a tool to swap spring out of standard parts: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=432545 I'd be careful, lest some piece go flying off under the couch. Quote
