Milan Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Hi, Can you please help me choosing the closest color from Lego available colors to match this trucks color. What would you chose: 1. Dark green 2. Olive green 3. Sand green 4. ??? All three are ok choices imo, Problem is that Lego colors are a bit different in real life and on screen, so while it seems that Olive green is best match, in real life Sand green might be even closer, so help me guys! Thanks! Quote
Brickus Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 The problem you will run into, is that if you are trying to build the truck, parts that you need may not be available in that colour, however I do think olive green is probably the best match. Quote
Milan Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Checked before selecting those three colors, all have necessary parts for the truck. But ordering through lots of different stores will be required. Oh well, it is a project after all. Thanks for your reply! Quote
Kit Bricksto Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 What works well for these military colours is old dark grey. It is slightly greenish but not as intense as the colours you suggested. Ralph Savelsberg uses it quite a lot on his military builds and it is the most realistic colour match I have seen so far. Quote
archieg Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Based on the pix, I would say Olive Green is your best bet, with maybe a little Dark Green on the inside of the wheel wells [shadows]. Quote
Patgeo Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I also beleive that Olive Green suits better to the military truck that you are willing to make. Also, in some countries, military vehicles tend to look like the Sand Green, but the one in the picture is closer to olive green. Quote
Space Police XVIII Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Hey I recognize that game. I should play it again. Anyway, Dark Green is out. It's the sort of thing that belongs on an Aston Martin; it's a pretty intense color and not at all like the flat greens of military equipment. Sand Green looks too bluish, I think Olive is your best bet. Quote
splatman Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Make the cab and bed Olive G., and the canopy Sand G. Quote
The Sarge Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 What works well for these military colours is old dark grey. It is slightly greenish but not as intense as the colours you suggested. Ralph Savelsberg uses it quite a lot on his military builds and it is the most realistic colour match I have seen so far. He uses it for Olive Drab, which it works well for. That truck looks more like a Soviet model for which olive green is probably best, if difficult to work with. Polish interwar armor camoflauge has a green that matches sand green well, and NATO three-tone has a green that matches dark green best. There was even a Japanese WW2 scheme that has a green that matches normal green! There's no one-size fits all to military greens, because every nation makes its own paints. Quote
Milan Posted March 26, 2016 Author Posted March 26, 2016 Hey guys, thanks for all your opinions. As much as I looked at all the (soviet) trucks, it looks like the best match is really Olive and Sand green, but Dark Gray really has best match some some trucks, too. Well, I guess I would have to make 3 trucks :) Quote
Stelario Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Go with olive :P You can always build it using only olive cheese slopes. Quote
