Hobbes Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 The best looking one to me is the Imperial Flagship. But it has the same problem all the ships after SES and BSB have (including pirate ships): the placement of the masts and sails. It looks just plain wrong and pretty disturbing... :/ Quote
Dreamweb Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I must admit the Imperial Flagship is the most elegant of all ships (including pirate ones), when I look at it I almost see it sailing with a lot of grace. However IMO Caribbean Clipper beats it anyway with its size and amount of details. Quote
Sting Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 I like the size and colors(the gold at th eback is very nice) of the Carribean Clipper. I like the design and sleekness and sails of the Imperial Flagship I like the Spaniards and the main sail on the Armada Flagship I like the Carribean Clipper a little more due to its size and the 'golden' back part. I think this is what was missing from the Imperial Guards/Soldiers - a mighty and elegant Galleon. As many on this board agree, the Imperial Guards should have had a bigger flagship than the Pirates did. Quote
Dreamweb Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 What I like about Armada Flagship is that it's white hull would look great as a base for a nice modern sailing boat. Of course it's for those who prefer City or perhaps Paradisa to Pirates. I wouldn't waste my ship like this, it's just a thought and it shows its versatility. This poll lacks the small ship from Imperial Trading Post. It looks great and I consider it Lego's big mistake not having it released as a separate set. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted September 24, 2005 I forgot about the "Cutter"... Get some admin to add it... Quote
Dreamweb Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 I think I'll build something similar to that one, think I have enough necessary hull pieces for two of them. Who knows... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted September 24, 2005 Yes, get to work right away! Quote
Jipay Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 I prefer the first one since I got 3 of those beauties. It is much larger than the other versions so it can compete more easely with the pirates ships *pirate3* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 25, 2005 Author Governor Posted September 25, 2005 But alas it is fatter and only has one mast so that makes it slower and less manoeuvrable. However being fatter it can hold more cannon and men. Quote
Dreamweb Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 The Clipper reached Imperial Flagship's position. Victory is close! Quote
Beagle Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Clipper all the way! Don't like those silly logos on the sails of the Imperial flagship, it diminishes the realism. And while I think the Spanish Armada minifigs are some of the coolest ever, I'm just not a fan of the white hull of their ship. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 17, 2005 Author Governor Posted October 17, 2005 I like the designs on the Imperial Flagship because it makes it look very regal. So there! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 10, 2006 Author Governor Posted August 10, 2006 Mr Tiber is wondering which ship is the better out of the Imperial Flagship and Caribbean Clipper in this thread. So I thought I'd bumped this thread for the benefit of the newer users who probably haven't seen the thread and voted. Quote
texas_jack_can Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 actually Phes, its me, not Mr. Tiber ;-) Quote
Evil Willy Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Imperial flagship...Its just stunning, absolutley stunning. Quote
Djole Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Well one of 3 present votes for Santa Cruz (Armada Flagship) is mine... I like arriving of Spaniards in pirates theme, minfigs are great (only con for this set is lack of minfigs, few more will fill the gaps) I like how LEGO combined the colors in this set,it makes this ship the most noble in this line... I usually don't like sails with amblems, but the main sail here is the best one TLC ever released on the end I must admit this is the only ship of mine,so nostalgia played a great part... Greetings from Serbia Quote
Scouty Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I voted for the Imperial Flagship. I think that it has a better design. I also like the sails better. Quote
Jacob C. Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I just put together my first Armada Flagship yesterday, so I had to vote for it! I love the color scheme for the ship and the unique white hull. Is this the only set that has a green cannon? (or cannon holder...whatever you call that piece?) Quote
Djole Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Is this the only set that has a green cannon? (or cannon holder...whatever you call that piece?) As far as I know,it is... I'm pretty sure Another unique element in this set... This green elements (curved rails, cannon base and arched window) are great in this set Greetings from Serbia Quote
alex54 Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I voted for the imperila flagship. It looks better than the two other. The caribbean clipper looks older and the Armada flagship too modern. I think that the imperial flgship has a better colorscheme than the others. I have the Armada flagship, and the minifigs are really great (heads so beautifull, torso, helmet and the chrome part, I like it!) Quote

The Commodore Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 The clipper is a classic, the larger hull make for a much better ship. But if i say so all the non-pirate ships have disappointing cabins. Quote
Brick Miner Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 after reading this whole thread, it sounds like my opinion is pretty close to phes. the CC is too wide for such a small ship. and the lack of a sail in the back makes it front look heavy. all-in-all its just to awkward. the gold trim is nice, i agree, but just not enough. the armada flagship (my first pirate ship) is way too colorful... it seems that none of the armada wanted to go to battle... they are just to regal. the figs are too decorated with jewelry for war, and the ship appears the same. i do like the net, but not the falling mast. and unlike others, i do not like the sail here. and i especially don't like the rigging that holds it together at the bottom. i understand why it was done this way, strictly for the falling mast (that i don't like). on the other hand, the imperial flagship is beautiful and a well crafted work of visual 3Dimensional art. it looks great from almost all angles... although from a side shot of the ship, the rigging that goes from the top mast to the back flag creates an unbalanced shape for the ship. small annoyance. now my opinion is strictly based on balance, composition, color theory, and the like... as for realism i make no opinion. - BrickMiner Quote
rupi Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I recently bought the Imperial Flagship , I was bidding on ebay on both, but I only got this one. In my oppinion it is the better of the three, both in colors, shape and features. the Armada is the ugliest, and the Caribbean Cliper is to wide for the size, so I prefer the Imperial Flagship. Quote
Paradosis Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I picked the Clipper, though mostly for sentimental reasons (it was the first big set from the Pirate theme that I got when I was younger). Quote
