I know this isn't exactly a MOC, but I just discovered a very unique Lego Train; in 1:1 scale.

In 1999 it looks like Legoland California paid Amtrak to wrap one if their passenger cars in this advert. I can't get a link to work on my cellphone, but if you Google "Lego Amtrak Train Wrap" it comes up as that baseplate green car.

So has anybody built this unique Lego Train in actual brick before? Looks like there would be studs facing everywhere if someone did it in real Lego.

I've seen that before on an Amtrak fan website. It's is wrapped on a Horizon fleet passenger car.

I haven't seen one made out of LEGO before. I don't think it is too hard to do. Maybe you can do one for that contest proprosal?

EDIT: I just notice your picture and my LEGO Amtrak engines show up in the Google image search for "LEGO Amtrak Train Wrap"

A quick search revealed this to be this specific Amtrak Horizon car: AMTK 53503 (Or in this case, LEGOLand 53503)

You can find several pictures of it here:

While the Horizon|Comet cars are simple to design and build, the vinyl wrap is a completely different story. Truth be known, though most would dread such an idea but covering it with a giant decal just like the real thing is probably the best option. Otherwise it is going to look either very busy or like the product of some strange graffiti layering. I guess building studs out would be one way to approach it...
