Zarkan Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Okay, for about a week, I've been working on an Exo-force site, but I've direct linked to pictures on Brickset and Lego.com. Some members on another site told me that this costs the sites I linked to bandwith, but I'm not sure if this is true. After all, there is a lot of direct linking going on here, and I haven't heard anyone said it's wrong (I've even linked to some stuff, but I've not been reprimanded or anything). So, I need to know: does direct linking cause loss of bandwith when you just link to pictures and put them on a free site? (like freewebs) I checked Wikipedia, but I don't really trust the article there, as it says it has potential problems above the text. So, if anyone can help me, please do. :-) (P.s. If someone doesn't know, Direct linking is when you post the actual image in a post or on a site, instead of just a text link to it.) Quote
Vader Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I don't believe it costs us however i'm not really the man to answer this, Jipay should be able to tell you one way or another as he pays the bills around here. Quote
ExoBuilder Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I'm struggling with the same thing. But if you give us the site when it's finished I will join. Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Well it does cost bandwidth as far as I know, however only as much as if someone would have normally checked out the page. Unless the site explicitly states not to deeplink, there's no reason not to, though... Quote
