Electricsteam Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) I tried to take some pictures of my heavy duty shunter in the snow again.... The wind picked up I could barely see in front of my face... some track and the train is lost in a snowdrift in front of my apartment... Hopefully I can find it against went the blizzard stops..... First missing of the VA snowpocolypse. Anyone else try and take pictures of their models in the snow like a garden railroad? [Edit] How bad is freezing cold snow for PF motor and receiver... Maybe off-topic, but can you share some photos of all the snow? Quote
Electricsteam Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Somewhere around there is the train.... The snow is about a foot now but that's a lot for us hahah People were fighting over bread a few days ago. I'm glad I live across the street from a supermarket. Quote
Dutchiedoughnut Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Im imagining the train has cut its own little tunnel and is still chugginh about ;). I hope the weather improves for you. People fighting over bread doesnt sound good... Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Well, I'm sure it'll turn up. Possibly covered in hard packed ice from being at the bottom of the snowdrift, but that shouldn't affect the plastic too much. Just thaw it out and warm it up in some warm water to remove the snow and dirt. Hope you find it soon! Quote

Hod Carrier Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Good grief!! I'd be more worried about it being cleared away with the snow or trodden on or driven over by someone carelessly. You might have to get out there with a shovel as soon as it's safe to do so and retrieve your property and worry about the damage later. Hopefully it should be OK if it's allowed to thaw and dry out thoroughly before attempting to use it next. In the meantime stay inside, stay warm and wait for the storm to pass. You might be close to the supermarket but the worry is whether or not it can be restocked. That's what normally drives people to go panic-buying. Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I don't know how people react to snow in where your from; but I do know that if the snow is a light powder you could probably go outside now with a shovel and at least get as much out as you can. If the snow is a heavy-humid slush; then I don't have experience to give advice for that. Quote
dr_spock Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Build a snow plow MOC and send it out to rescue your train and tracks. The snow doesn't look too bad. Looks like a typical snow day when I lived in the Great White North. Quote
Electricsteam Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Well the storm stopped.... The train is closer to the underside of my porch anyhow. No worry for it being run over. It's about 1-1 1/2 feet... that's a lot for us poor Virginians. If you need me I'll be drinking hot coco with the neflix fire channel thing on. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Beautiful pictures ...it's nice to see a steam locomotive in winter contest! Quote
LEGO_duden Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 If the snow has not melted, the motor and receiver will probably be fine. Just blow of as much as you can outside before you bring it in so the snow does not melt. When you get it inside just use paper towels to wipe the receiver and motor dry if its wet, and leave it unpowered for an hour or so there is no condensation inside. Do not wash it in water. If you have a leaf blower, that would probably blow away the snow to find the train. Quote
Electricsteam Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Any news on the rescue attempt? Still tons of snow. I havent seen much of it melt away I might dig for it tommorow Quote
