natelite Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 i thought this was a pretty good moc, reusing what was previously "useless" <insert that tiresome argument> airplane parts. was thinking of train and town as i wanted to show what else we can make of them, but since it's more steampunk/helium balloon type thingy, maybe in history and adventure? Edit by Starwars4J: Changed title to avoid continuing confusion Quote
Siegfried Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 That is pretty good, and very smart. *wub* Shame I would need to buy a second to pull that one off. Even so.... Quote
natelite Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 i've been thinking of a competition. a hot air balloon contest. who can come up with the craziest hot air balloon design! :-P but then i realized there're too many contests already, which many of you are thinking it but not saying it. ;-) Quote
goggleson Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 *wub* at first site. Maybe because I'm a steampunk fan. But maybe because it rocks!I think both Quote
simonwillems Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 What a great idea that fits perfectly! It seems that piece has just become a tiny little bit less useless.... :-D Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Uber cool!! What a really unique way to use an odd peice! Quote
Batbrick Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Very intelligent Natelite! *y* It fits in excellently with the Steampunk ship, proving that it mat be a little useful! Great MOC too! *sweet* I Am FEAR Incarnate! *skull* Quote
Zarkan Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) Hey? Who says all the airplane parts are <insert that tiresome argument>? The tail and top of the cockpit are, but the main fueslage parts and maybe even the wings still have uses! :-P But, yeah, this MOC is totally awesome. Thanks for sharing it, natalie. ;-) Edited October 25, 2007 by Grevious Quote

Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Ahh, attack of the <insert that tiresome argument> parts. well done, and good contest idea. Quote
ExoBuilder Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Wow!!! *wub* At first i thought that looked like a normal zeppelin, now I realize that it's made from those bups. I wish I could build something like that.....Good job!! Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Who would've thought of using those parts that way, ingenius! It may have started as a little experiment, but it turned out to be a great and imaginative MOC! *y* Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Ah, that was made by Professor Whateverly, an admin over at classic-space.com. It was truly an ingenious design! I have my own design I plan on using for that part :-P Peace and Praises, Professor Wh- ~Starwars4J X-D (little inside C-S humor) Quote
natelite Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 i just got back from work. but yeah, like SW4J said, it's not my moc. :-P just wanted to show what others can come up with, with "useless" parts. maybe i should put a disclaimer in my sig that nothing i link is mine unless i truly said so. :-P Quote
Hinckley Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I would prefer though if you made it a balloon/zepplin/dirigible competition.... Are you talking to me? Okay, I'm on it... :-P Quote
natelite Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 alright...i feel bad "misleading" some of you so here's one of mine. i was trying to create warcraft 3 heroes and units beginning with humans. here's the original image: the fourth person is supposedly arthas. :-P all from available lego parts. no custom. alright, it's not good so any comment? which part do i need to change or would you substitute to make the moc better? I noticed the pics before I started reading the text, and the first thought that popped into my mind was: hey, that looks like Warcraft! So you're definitely on the right track here! *y* I'm not entirely sure about the wizards cape though, it just looks a bit too evil to me to be used on a good wizard. And I would suggest you swap the dark blue for the brighter classic blue and perhaps add a little more blue, since it's a pretty dominating color in the original image. Quote
natelite Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 yeah, i guess humans are easy. i don't have any lego blue cape though, just the dark blue. guess i'll cheat and make my own lego blue cape. :-P same with a bley cape for the wizard. next will try the undeads...since we just had a new lego theme. :-P orcs third and finally the night elves. :-P was thinking of how i can make the mortar team. one of them is larger than the other. hmm, guess will cross that bridge when i get there. Quote
Asuka Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Very cool MFs, and these dark blue capes look great! That helmet for your mage Quote
SlyOwl Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 The zeppilin thingy just goes to show how great MOCs turn out to come from a few tinkering with BURPs, <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, Bionicle bits in the wrong boxes (or in my case, ALL my Bionicle stuff :-D ) or just plain random parts with no specific place... That's how most of my non-competition MOCs (mainly my animals, here (MUST get to 6000! ;-) ) start off and in most of the rest I find some ingenious new use or technique... Great Stuff Slazza Quote
Opproperaar Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 A very nice MOC, it looks like the extravagant invention of a wealthy baron who spends his days reading books and putting the theories he reads and comes up with himself to the test. Like in the early days of flight pioneering. *y* And since I love anything that's adventurer, explorer related, I love this too. *y* Very clever to use the airframe the way you did. Quote
iamded Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 This is awesome! Very steam-punk indeed, I love the engines! Kudos to the builder! *y* *y* ~Peace Quote
MatthewUSA Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Very unique MOC natelite. At first when I read the "<insert that tiresome argument>" part, I thought of the Jack Stone airplane. I have been thinking of ways to use the JS parts, so I thought I would check out this forum. I did not think of the most recent "City" airplane. Very coooooool way to use the airplane tail sections *y* . Model On!! Quote
