eanair Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 So like the title says - do you rummage through your kids Lego collection if you need a piece!?! I try so hard not to - and to hold on until my next Bricklink/PAB order...but my impatience gets the better of me! At the moment I have an IOU list of parts that I need to replace for him! He's none the wiser (he's 4), but if he decides he wants to remake his Police Station or his many many construction bits and bobs he's gonna need all the pieces! Not accusing him of stealing in the slightest, but I love how Mestari used his daughters Duplo in his Ice Cream Parlour MOC - http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111129 Quote
Japanbuilder Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I make it so that all the lego in the house are mine so it is not stealing when you borrow from yourself heh heh. If they want to remake something I just dismantle what I was working on and give the pieces back to them. It cultivates the whole sharing thing better that way. Quote
OmShanti Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 No never. Sometimes I share my extra parts though, when someone needs something. I have the largest Lego collection in my house, so everyone is always coming to me to obtain parts. My boyfriend even uses my CMF's in his displays sometimes. My son offers up pieces of his sets that he thinks I want, but I seldom take them. Quote
rodiziorobs Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I try and make sure to ask first--it reminds them that they also need to ask before borrowing mine. Quote
Immo Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I steal parts from my child. My inner child More seriously, though, I wouldn't dare to steal/borrow form my kid if I had one. And I'd expect the same from him/her. I'd introduce the kid into Lego, though. Quote
fred67 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 No. Once upon a time, my son had bionicle and some Star Wars sets, and I never touched them (except to help him build them when he was little). My daughter had a couple of small sets, too, and when CMFs came out I would give them ones they liked from my collection. Skip forward a few years, and they've both given me all their LEGO; they're just not interested anymore. Quote
Bricksnaps Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We just displayed a few scenes at Brickfair Alabama. At the end when we start packing up my daughter says rather loudly 'does this mean I can have all my animals back now dad'? I was a little embarrassed :) Quote
dulsi Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Well some of my kid's legos are mine. When they just started getting legos, they incorporated the few sets I had. Once I purchased a big lot from ebay I kept those separate. I've used my kids' and wife's legos for occasionally during a night but put them back before I went to bed. I built Manbat's Rocket Blast with my son's set #76011 - Batman: Man-Bat Attack because the rebrickable contest required an alternate build for a current set between a certain size. For the Batrazor, I borrowed pieces to build the scene with poison ivy. Quote
