jhuyser Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I've had the feeling for quite some time that there the same charater. Know your probly thinking this is some odd fan idea and that's well its not because in some ninjago episodes there startling evidence. first the overlord said that overlord was the name to call him hinting a the fact he has a different name and second he directly refered to takanuvas battle with makuta\him when he said were theres light theres always a shadow. If my evidence is proven right this would mean he is not your every day lego villain instead it would mean he is a devil\satan like being! Quote
Junior Shark Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) Know your probly thinking this is some odd fan idea Actually, yes. This is hardly better than that clickbait crap on BuzzFeed. Or are you just trolling? You may also wish to consult this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammar Edited January 12, 2016 by Junior Shark Quote
Mr Greeble Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 AAAAAAAAH! Quick! Call out the National Guard! Sorry, couldn't resist. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hmm. I think this is a little more suited to the Media forum (and that is stretching it a bit). Could you also refer to Eurobrick's guidelines on spelling and grammar here please? Quote
PenPlays Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I don't think this is a fan idea. I know it is. A common writing tool/trope for mysterious beings, spiritual or not, is that they are "known by many names," and that "the one (insert character) knows is just one of them." Makuta is definitely not the first, and the Overlord is one of the more recent to say so. Another common trope is the "balance between good and evil." Stories use this as a means to justify the evil in the worlds writers have created and can be used limitlessly. The same quote, whether similar or not does not mean anything. From this perspective, saying the Overlord is Makuta is like saying Sauron and Darth Sidious are the same. They're simply two different bad guys that are present in worlds that take good and evil similarly, regardless if it's light and darkness, magic and sorcery, or Light and Dark Sides of the Force. This is more of a theory, than something with concrete evidence. It's also something that Lego would never confirm either, as they have clearly moved on from Bionicle G1. Quote
gamejutzu Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Nope. However, i'd say that The Overlord and Antimatter do have relations though (via possession and dark matter). If anyone's interested, I have a thread on it Edited January 13, 2016 by gamejutzu Quote
Balhu Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 first the overlord said that overlord was the name to call him hinting a the fact he has a different name and second he directly refered to takanuvas battle with makuta\him when he said were theres light theres always a shadow. That's hardly a direct reference. If you notice, a lot of Lego genres with an element of fantasy (Bionicle, Ninjago, Castle, etc.) use the excuse of "when there is good, there is also evil" to churn out as many villians as possible. And even if we were to compare the personalities, they're quite different. Makuta is more of the "cold, calculating, but completely insane" warlord, while the Overlord is more of a "let's just do a direct assault and see what happens" type. If you watched the Ninjago TV series, he hated being trapped inside a computer, because he wasn't free to attack everything. Makuta, on the other hand, let his minions revive him, and didn't seem angry that he was trapped for who knows how long. The movesets, in addition, are different. The Overlord seems to use possesion and summoning abilities, with the ability to shapeshift. Makuta, while he is able to possess things (giant robot suit) he doesn't seem to wield the powers the Overlord has. Whoa, I got a little in depth there. Quote

To be honest, Antimatter has more of a relation to him than Makuta. From their colors to their movesets/attacks. But i'm sure Makuta and Overlord would be good friends (lol). Quote
