jimim Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I'm going to start to put together some city scenes with my daughter and we don't know what color works best for sidewalks. Is the light grey the norm or is the medium grey still light enough. I know the dark grey is not. I know it is personal preference, but was wondering so we can intergrate it into other setups down the road like the creator buildings. thanks so much! jim Quote
LAKAbricks Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Try to consider what kind of pavement it is. Pick up inspiration from your own town/city and see which colour of bricks match the most. In Brazil I have seen pavements in different colours, some of them even painted to match the facade of the building. Personally I would go for the light grey, though. Quote
pirzyk Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Medium grey? The only color choices I have seen are Light Bluish Grey (new light grey) vs Dark Bluish Gray (new dark grey). The Creator modulars come with Dark Bluish Gray as the sidewalks. I have continued that trend and I am happy with it. Our LUG I would say is about 50/50 between light and dark bley. There is one person who uses white still. Which do you like better? The only other point I can bring up is to pick a color that is currently being produced as opposed to a discontinued color. Quote

What is commonly known as 'light bluish grey' is officially called 'Medium Stone Grey' by Lego. There is a color called 'Light Stone Grey' (Lego) / 'Very Light Bluish Grey' (BL) that is even brighter, but as far as I know it almost only exists as a color for minifig and boinicle parts. Quote
jimim Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Hey guys. Thanks so much! I guess I wanted to match up with the creator buildings as much as possible for the future. I was mentioning light cause I saw it so much around the net but when I go to the pick a brick site it only showed medium and dark so I figured they didn't have light cause it's so popular. So I am correct that the medium is the regular color used in the sidewalk creation in the modulars. Not light? Quote

Not light? The main part of the sidewalk in Creator modulars is Dark Stone Grey (Lego terminology) aka Dark Bluish Grey (Bricklink terminology) and the curb is Medium Stone Grey (Lego) aka Light Bluish Grey (Bricklink). GallardoLU Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 personally I use light bluish grey as sidewalk, and dark as wet sidewalk/fresh cement. Quote
gavralcraw Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 light and dark tan work well for fancy street tiling. Also think bituemen / black. Quote

TomKraut Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 To me, Lego sidewalks will always be light grey because I grew up with the 80's road plates (technically, that would be old light grey, but light bley is close enough). Lego colour terminology can be really confusing, especially when you are new to the subject. I recently had to recolour almost every grey part in a MOC after exporting the LDD file to Rebrickable because I confused light blueish grey (medium stone grey) and very light blueish grey (light stone grey). goldengraham09 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 ive been using light bluish grey for my sidewalk but i havent fully built a city atm. just got some road plates and then matched them up with some buildings etc. Quote
SalvoBrick Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 In a first version of my town (not-modular) I used light bluish gray sidewalks: Actually my town is fully modular so sidewalks are dark bluish gray with a light gray border: Hope it helps Quote
