SocialRefund Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Hay Has anyone picked up the the Star Wars carbon freezing chamber set yet? And what did you make of it? I'd be interested to know before I get it. Thanks Quote
RetroInferno Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 As far as mini-figs goes, this is a good set if you skipped the UCS Slave 1 ( even if Boba-Fett isn't as detailed in this set, it's still a pretty good mini-fig ). The Ugnaught is a nice little exclusive addition to this set and can never get too many Hans The biggest flaw in this set is obiously the build; the play features are awkward and not really that accurate to the source material. However, the stairs of this set can be detached, and attached on the upper platform, which leads me to think that maybe ( In my dreams probably ) that lego could release a bigger Bespin set to which you could attach this model to. Overall, get it if you skipped the UCS Slave 1 and you like the mini-figs, but I'm having a hard time seeing the value with the build itself. But that's only my opinion :P Hope this helps! Quote
AndyRiley8 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 For twenty quid it's a no brainer for me ;-) I have the UCS Slave 1 and a few other Boba figs. This one is still a nice edition and I am glad it isn't the same as the UCS version. You also get the UCS version of Han with the new face and another frozen Han. The Ugnaught is fantastic! and for now, only appears in this set :-) The build itself is OK and the play features are a bit cack. It isn't true to the film, agreed. This is Lego though so you can use the elements to build your own. Good mix of oranges in there too. I think it works as a kid's play set (my 2 year old has fun with it) and its a good starting point for a proper MOC if you want to build one. With the figures and the aesthetics, it also works as a good little display piece. For the same price as Rey's speeder, this is a much better all round set in my opinion. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118342 This will provide some visuals as well Quote
LegendaryArticuno Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I thought this was a $40 set... isnt Rey's Speeder $20? Quote
Regimus Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Excellent figures, make the set worth the price for many. Set is underwhelming as a display piece, but adequate as a play set for kids. I purchased two sets and combined them, I'm fairly happy with the result. You can't quite make a full circle but I managed 7 sides of an octagon. Quote
SocialRefund Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Hay guys Thanks for the heads up all your information was great. I've gone ahead and bought it as I did miss the slave one and want the boba plus others. Think I'm going to go ahead and put this one on display and wait to see if there are any add ons or other sets I could possibly combine it with. Thanks again guys Quote
Richpepperell Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I picked it up last week and overall I'm positive about it. The ugnaught is a must have, the boba fett is better than my other most recent one (desert skiff) and the carbonate han is good too. If, like a lot of people, you already have a reasonable Han and boba, sell them on and you'll probably get most of the cost of the set back. The build itself feels like it's half finished to me - I'll be getting a second set to add to it. I've already added a couple of extra 'segments' and I think it looks much better already! https://www.flickr.com/gp/richpepperell101/S9cAu3 Quote

Seeing this little set by itself just makes me sad about the potential Bespin has and I still stand by what I said earlier about it being flawed, but being the only set based on Bespin since 2003... My UCS Slave 1 is still on the way though and maybe I could cough up a few $$$ once it hit the shelves in march ( NA here ) just for the sake of it. Quote
