Lord Of Pies Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Okay, I know this is bad timing for an F1 thread seeing as the season has just ended, but I was wondering whether anyone supported a team or not, or just generally watched formula one and what they though of this amazing season! *y* For those not in the "know" f1 has 17 races, and a race begins on Thursdays for practices and ends on a sunday with a race, lasting around 60 laps. The FIA awards points to the top eight drivers and their respective teams of a grand prix on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis, meaning the person in first gets 10 points, the person in second eight and so on.... I support Spyker F1, a dutch team, who came 10th (out of 11 :-| ) this season, and being Brtish I wanted Hamilton to win the title. The championship ended with the top 3 drivers each finishing within a point of each other, with Kimi R Quote
DB24 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 F1 hey? I'm a massive fan! Watched every race this year, which can be difficult as i live in Australia. Often i'm up at 2am on a monday morning watching the race! I've been to the Australian GP the last few years, great as always. I don't really follow a team as such, but i follow Mark Webber (F1's unluckiest driver). So at the moment its Red Bull. As we Australians like to see the poms fail at sport, i was going for kimi at Brazil! *sweet* What an amazing race. Can't wait for '08, Alonso will most likely go back to Renault, but who will take his spot? Quote
5150 Lego Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Sweet!Glad to see other F1 fans! Wow. What a season. I Was cheering for McClaren. Mainly because of Lewis Hamilton. He did absolutly fantastic for his first year! I was really rooting for him and thought for sure he was going to win the championship. But he really let Alonzo get to him in Brazil when he passed him on the first turn. But i have to give up to Ferrari. Great plan to get Kimi out front. Over all i think it was a great year. Alot of contoversy, but still very enteresting! Personally, i hope Alonzo goes back to Renault. I lost all respect for him after he held up his team mate hamilton during practice. Also it would make things very intersting for 08. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Hooray, It's nice to know other people here are interested in F1! I hope Hamilton can win the title next year, he is very talented, and unless something goes very wrong, I can see him being a 3 or 4 times world champion. As for Alonso.... :-| I can't see him staying With Mclaren for another season, I reckon Renault will have him back. Oh in other news, Spyker, who I support, have been sold, and will be called Force India for 2008! :-X Quote
DB24 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Can't believe they're calling themselves Force India! What a horrible name. :-X Surely there's better names around involving the name India. As for Alonso, if he doesn't go back to Renault I'll be very surprised, because they said they're happy to have him back. I guess Fisi would make room for him there... I wonder who will take Alonso's place at Mclaren? Maybe Nico? Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 I'm not convinced that Nico is quick enough to be team mates with Lewis, to be honest! And Force India! :-X Hopefully, the FIA will block the name change, and it will be called "Force" or "Force 1". I also think that Kubica might be the big surprise for next year, I reckon he will get a win or two in his BMW, if they continue to deliver results as they are at the moment! 8- Quote
DB24 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 LoP, i think that there is a good chance Nico will go to Mclaren. He is young, quick and good friends with Hamilton (from GP2 days). He was often fighting out with the BMW's this year, well ahead of Wurz. As for Kubica, he seems very quick, but i expect Heinfeld to outpace him next year. BMW should be up there with Ferrari and McLaren next year. Yoda, yes alonso did leave for money, but its a ruthless sport. Renault have already said they'd be happy to take him back. I'm guessing Fisi would go. I love F1!!! X-D Quote
zz-80 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) I'm not that much interested in the F1, but I followed some races this season. I have to admit that they aren't that boring anymore! :-P My favorite team has to be BMW (I drive them since I got the drivers licence, so... :-D). Favorite drivers include Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. I really like the story I read a year ago about Ron Dennis and Lewis when he was 11 resp. 12. He wanted to join McLaren but Ron told him that he had to win the karting championship of his age group first and then come back. Of course he won, and Ron signed him very early. That really imoressed me. I think that there are a lot of titles for him waiting. He is not only a highly talented driver, he is also very likeable. I'm excited to see the night race in Singapore next year. Edited October 25, 2007 by zz-80 Quote

julencin2000 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hmmmmmm I like Formula 1. As some of you know, I'm spanish, like Alonso. We in Spain are backing our pilot because he's a fantastic driver, and cold-blooded like Schumacher. It's true that he flew to McLaren Mercedes because of the money, but everybody does the same. But the difference is that if he goes, for example, to Toyota, it is only to make money, but they don't have a winner car. He will go to a team that would offer him "team work", money (of course) and a winner car. He's not going to Toyota. In McLaren Mercedes, Ron favourited clearly to Hamilton since the very first races because of his very good ability, but this treat caused Hamilton to be "over confident". MacLaren (Dennis) and the FIA have helped all the time this season to Hamilton. I.E. the crane pulling Hamilton's car, no punishment for the safety car incident that caused a crash between Vettel and Webber... OMG I hope Alonso will win the next 10 seasons *wub* and Pedro De La Rosa too, very agressive and nice pilot too. Hamilton... well, he's a good pilot, but he has to learn a lot more from Alonso. And now he's leaving... Quote
zz-80 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) It's true that he flew to McLaren Mercedes because of the money, but everybody does the same. Yes I have to agree. M. Schumacher for example went from Renault to Ferrari in '96(?) because of the money (20 mln Euro/season iirc). Ferrari at that time was really a crappy team, anything but able to win. Everybody thought "WTF?! Renault is a winning team!" but Schu managed the turn around. I think Alonso could do that as well! Maybe Williams one day? ;-) It's clear that you cheer for your own countries driver, who doesn't do that? Btw. when had Spain it's last F1 champ? Or is he the first? Alonso made a mistake when he fell out with McLaren very fast, so his team didn't support him like it supported Hamilton. The same thing nearly cost him his last title when Renault thought "why support him now, he's leaving anyway". He needs a little more sensitivity, but he is a great driver! I'm sure that we will see great battles in the next season with Alonso, Hamilton, R Edited October 25, 2007 by zz-80 Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 You are correct zz-80, Shumacher did leave Benneton/Renault in 1996. I only hope that 2008 is as exciting as 2007 has been! *yoda* , you may be pissed if Alonso goes back to Renault, but I am sure the results he could deliver would make many Renault fans happy! Quote
julencin2000 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Well, Spain had the last F1 Champion... never LOL ^^ but oh well, there's a star for everything ^_^ About who started it all first, Alonso or McLaren, we'll never figure it out. But it's crystal clear that their relationship has ended. If Alonso goes to Renault, we'll enjoy much more next season ^^ Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 *yoda* , you may be pissed if Alonso goes back to Renault, but I am sure the results he could deliver would make many Renault fans happy! Its not only him leaving for more money that pissed me, its how he did it !! After a few weeks (still driving for Renault) he nearly broke his new contratct but couldn't !! Great pilot with a shit mentality !! And LOP, he might deliver IF Renault has a decent car :-P I think Alonso's mentality is better in a team like Renault ;-) *yoda* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 I have a gut feeling that Renault and Williams will be the teams to look out for next year! Renault and/or Williams possibly ON! *wacko* Force India OFF! (BTW, I am gonna have to change my sig now..) Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I have a gut feeling that Renault and Williams will be the teams to look out for next year!Renault and/or Williams possibly ON! *wacko* Force India OFF! Well, I like Renault because they have a tight budget and always come up with a great car (except that year |-/ ) Please Renault change the colour of the car !! Damn orange crap sponsor :-| Actually I am a bit pissed because I really want Hamilton to be champ and Renault !! So for once I will root for two different teams :-P (BTW, I am gonna have to change my sig now..) At least you got a new title :-P *yoda* Quote
zz-80 Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 At least you got a new title So he had to do exactly the opposite to get the title he wanted... (OK I have to keep that in mind) :-P Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Thanks Master *yoda* ! *wub* I don't know who to support! Quote
5150 Lego Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I hope Alonso will win the next 10 seasons *wub* and Pedro De La Rosa too, very agressive and nice pilot too.Hamilton... well, he's a good pilot, but he has to learn a lot more from Alonso. And now he's leaving... Learn from Alonso? If you mean how to be shaddy and back stab your own team mate because your afraid he's better than you, than yes. Hamilton is a great driver. In many ways he is better than Alonzo. Yes, i'll admit he does still have alot to learn and has made a few rookie mistakes (China, and Brazil) but he has already proven that he is a better driver than Alonzo. Alonzo just can't seem to deal with the rookie driver coming in doing better than him. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 (edited) I wonder where Sutil shall go now. Does anyone whether he is staying at Force India? I think he is a good driver, however I would like him to stay at Force India ( :-X ) as he is far superior to Yamamoto (sp?), and is the only one capable of delivering results! EDIT: OMG I HAZ T3H Jordan F1 logo in my sig, to show my support to the mighty (former |-/ ) Irish team! Edited October 28, 2007 by Lord Of Pies Quote
DB24 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Apparently this article confirms Sutil being at Force India next year. I can't read it and it doesn't want to translate properly :-$ Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Cool, thanks DB24! That is Good For Force India at least... Quote
DB24 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Cool, thanks DB24!That is Good For Force India at least... No worries mate. Yeah its a big plus to force India, but there is still a chance his contract could be sold on to another team. (that will probably happen to Alonso) Quote

I've lost all respect for him (though i guess i've already made that apparent. :-D ) I do have a feeling that Renault will be one of the teams to look for next year. But my money is on Hamilton!
